Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Simon.AU Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Hi, We have a couple of issues with custom fields (Member Settings -> Profiles) which I am hoping someone might be able to assist with 🙂 1. Field type is set to "select box", and we have added several options; however, even though the "Required" checkbox is ticked, users are still able to register without making a selection in this field (there is always a blank option) 2. Is there a way to require all users who are currently registered to add a value into this profile field the next time they sign in, even if they have already registered without selecting a value? Many thanks in advance for any assistance! regards David
Simon.AU Posted April 10, 2024 Author Posted April 10, 2024 Sorry please ignore point #1 as I have sorted this one out. So I am just after a way to require users to complete a (required) profile field at next login, which happens to also be a custom profile field. Reason being is that whilst this field is set to required, some users were created via an import process, and they have this field empty.
Solution Marc Posted April 10, 2024 Solution Posted April 10, 2024 You would want to use profile completion, and set a profile completion section up as required instead. So instead of forcing it on registration, you would instead be forcing it on login if its not populated. They cant do anything else at all without filling in that field Â
SJ77 Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 (edited) Sorry to bring this up again but this solution doesn't work for me. I want a check box that must be checked in order to register. I don't wish to suddenly force all of my existing members to have to jump through this hoop. (only new registrations) I am not even showing this on the users profile, it's just a step I need to be compliant when people are registering in 2025. Is there really no way to make a profile field required in order to register? Makes no difference 😞 I basically just want a box they must check in order to register. [  ]  I am at least 18 years old For some reason I thought this would be a super easy thing to add. Edited December 23, 2024 by SJ77
SJ77 Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 I used language edits to cram what I needed into the terms of use acceptanceÂ
teraßyte Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 You can use the setting in ACP > System > SETTINGS > Login & Registration > Registration TAB > Minimum age required to register. 🤔 SJ77 1

Just realised I'd have to switch from quick registration to full registration form Edited December 26, 2024 by marklcfc
Adriano Faria Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 You need to create step on profile completion. Probably this will appear as an option.
