After editing the name of the topic its first post is now the last one?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Like I've described in the title of the topic - I've changed the name of the topic and its first post got somehow moved to be the last one. When opening the first page of such topic, I am constantly getting notifications of new posts... What is this?

Its a very important topic on my board with 17K posts and I would like to keep it in its original state without removing anything. I am now getting tons of massages from users who are following the topic on these notifications about old post.

It's a bug in 4.7.7 which was patched recently, so go into your ACP and check for optional patches being available.

Before you the patch though, edit the original first post of the topic (which is now near the end of the topic) and set its date/time back to the original information (fields at bottom of form)

@Nathan Explosion I just did the update, altough its been apparently covering only some problems with Gallery.

My problem described here earlier still exists. The post_Id of these posts stayed the same and yet it was thrown to the last page of these topics. I am getting now messages that a few other topics are behaving the same...

I am really concerned about my board right now and the only thing I did was changing the name of the topic.... Super weird.

You must have edited your post after I made the update already...

If you are still seeing the first post going to the end of the topic when editing, then it's possible that the patched bug may be back - await Invision support to review that then.

Where exactly? I think you could edit the time only in the phpmyadmin. When editing the post I can only set the date of blocking/unblocking the topic.

If the patch wasn't applied (which it appears it was, based on you indicating that you only saw the gallery one) then you would have had the fields

As you indicate that you have the patch applied, you won't now have the fields.

Also why do people who are not the IPS support team are able to comment here? Due to a false advice in the first post above that was later edited, I am now stuck with an even bigger problem...

The advice in the first post was actually correct. There is nothing on the patch that states it will correct previous issues, and the patch is indeed what corrects the problem with dates changing.

When I leave the topic open, the "first post" keeps getting added again and again...

I'm not sure what you are seeing there, and that certainly doesnt sound related and needs looking into. Do you have the ability to record what you are seeing so we can take a look?

I had to apparently adjust the date of the first post before the upgrade. That’s the problem.

I’ve recorded the topic on my phone. It shows that the post was posted on wednesday, which is not true. It’s the very first post of that topic. The video starts when the post was already doubled and shows the notification when the third one was added:

Can’t add files bigger than 48mb here. Need to find some hosting…

Just want to point something out - my advice earlier was correct. But you already had the patch applied, as you indicated in your follow-up reply where you said only the gallery patch was there, so my additional comment about editing the dates wouldn't have been relevant as the fields wouldn't be there if you have the patch.

My advice right now would be for you to actually confirm that the issue that was patched previously is indeed working - go to a topic that you are happy to mess up, edit the first post and save it. If it pops to the bottom of the listing then you still have a problem and Invision need to look into it.

I'll be thinking twice about helping out again in the future though.

@Nathan Explosion I have applied the patch after reading about it from your post here first. You have after edited the post with the additional information about changing the post time/date before applying the update. There's Community Support forum on this board and this one is by design meant to be for the Invision Support Team. Thanks for willing to help either way.

I've edited the post_time in the database with the correct time and so far it seems to be working well.
