Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Square Wheels Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 I put ibn a ticket a long time ago. I was waiting for support to release a fix for the sites loading very slow. That came out and seemed to fix things until the current release. It just took over two minutes for my unread content to load. This is happening again on all three sites, the only change is the current release.
Square Wheels Posted October 11, 2021 Author Posted October 11, 2021 This happens too, again, all was well until the recent release. CoffeeCake Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Do you use elasticsearch? Have you checked its logs?
Square Wheels Posted October 11, 2021 Author Posted October 11, 2021 Just now, CoffeeCake said: Do you use elasticsearch? Have you checked its logs? Nope / NA Thanks though
Marc Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Please could you update your access details on file? The current ones appear to be incorrect

Marc Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Ive just been clicking around your site, and it actually appears to be pretty quick. Are you seeing anything showing on slow query logs?

This has been taking 60+ seconds to load https://squarewheelscycling.com/index.php?/discover/unread/ - it's been going on since the most recent release. Oddly, I just tried and it took 2 seconds. Where are the slow query logs?
Marc Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Slow query logs are something your hosting company would switch on with your mysql instance to log any queries which are running slowly. It can help to find performance issues on your site

I don't know if this is still the case, but these used to default to 'all time', reducing that to a few weeks or months should really speed it up.
Square Wheels Posted October 18, 2021 Author Posted October 18, 2021 4 minutes ago, Marc Stridgen said: Did you get anywhere with this? The host said they could turn on query logs, but that would likely cause a lot of overhead and slow the site down. I decided not to. Not sure what to do at this point. The times are now back to the unread page loading in 60+ seconds.
Marc Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 I would suggest still switching those on. It will cause some overhead, yes. However you are on a revolving circle there. If you dont switch on the diagnostics because of overhead to resolve an issue on performance, you will not resolve an issue with performance
Square Wheels Posted October 18, 2021 Author Posted October 18, 2021 They turned it on for a few hours. Where should I send the log file? I'd prefer not to post it here. Thanks

Marc Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 As mentioned within your ticket, unfortunately we appear to be in the realm of hosting issues there. These issues we simply arent experiencing on the product as a whole, and it seems there are no slow queries or anything being logged
