Splitting quotes is a big pain

Now that I've been running 4.4.x for a month, one issue that comes up repeatedly is managing quotes while composing a message.  It seems quite difficult to split a quote.  The only way I've been able to do it is to press ENTER twice at the end of a paragraph.  However, I don't see a way to split a quote at any arbitrary location.  Surely there is a way to do this?  If not, can this be added in some future version?

I am aware that you can select text in a previous reply and then click the "Quote selection" button that appears.  However, sometimes you just want to quote an entire post and then inject your responses as necessary.

You create a break at an arbitrary location and then in the new paragraph break which that produces you can do the 'Enter twice' trick which you've already discovered.

Yes, worded differently - hitting enter twice in the middle of a quote should split it at that point.

This does work on this forum, and I've verified it works on my forum as well.  Not intuitive, but at least I can explain this to people when they ask (and I've been asked how to do this quite a few times since the switch from 3.4.x).
