URL Questions

First off, is it possible to change /forums/ to /comments/   ?

Why is the structure 

/forums/forum/23-article-comments

Shouldn't the second /forum/ be the category?   Why have it there at all?

/forums/category/article-comments 

What is the number for if the URL is unique?

It's the unique id of the topic - the title of the topic isn't unique at all, and it can't be assumed that it ever will be.

I get adding it for the topic title, but not the name of the forum.  Couldn't you check to see a forum name was unique? 

I see how /forum/ turns to /topic/

Yes, but don’t mess with it unless you absolutely have to.

The first is the app, the second tells you what is shown last. forum/forum-url just like topic/topic-url

Yeah, the trouble is it is being used for a news site.  We can't get press passes if the word Forum appears anywhere on the site.

It's stupid, but ... well that's what they do.
