Would it be at all possible for you to create it so this (and members shop) is available to be used with the following points system?

At the minute I have no plans to add that one to them, Members shop does have its own advanced point system built in to it allowing you to award points for users to create content etc

I currently have a full system built with points economy and rules which has an algorithm used to determine the value of points per post, based on numerous factors, i.e. content length, post count, member group, and copywriter score. This is because the rules application gives me more control over the points system. All good, thanks for responding.

So you can bet on anything, right? ties included?

You can create the categories and then create what ever bets you wanted to put as the selections, so it can be anything yes, You could have a dead pool if you really wanted lol

New update coming soon where you can pick to choose to either use Fractional odds ( UK ) or decimal odds ( USA, EU, ETC, ETC ) you can choose the format for each bet selection you create

There is also a google maps embed feature to add to the venues, ( These are not required fields so if you don't want to use it you don't have to ) if you hover the mouse over the venue button it will show a hover pop up with the map

Interested in this but how does it fit into gambling laws and restrictions?

Unless you say they can cash out their points for cash it should not fit into any laws or restrictions, There is many apps etc what offer gambling for fake / not real money ( check your mobiles app store, and they sell in game currency to play with you just can't cash out for real money ), and using points should fit into that

If you state you will allow them to cash out their points for $$$ then you would need to check the laws in your own country to see

ok so there is no problem members buying points with cash through IPcommerce to play if they want to do it that way?

And if they do it that way, paypal are fine with it?

I can see some real potential with this, but it's an area I have never been involved in

thanks for your help and input

As far as I know there should be no problems as it is not actual gambling if you don't cash them out and the users also dont need to buy points to use as they earn them free from their content you set in the members shop points sections. but if any doubt give paypal a ring and explain to them what you want to do and see what they say.

So from the betting chart as long as you don't trade real money you'll be good

Kinda of.

Winnings means anything won, whether or not money or moneys worth. Money’s worth is considered by the
Commission to be broad and to include, but not necessarily be limited to, anything convertible to or tradable for money

Quick question.

In order not to fall foul of the UK regulations I think that the points gambled and won have to have no monetry value either as in money or moneys worth.

So if people can buy points to buy a membership upgrade or buy points for other shop items, then this could cause a problem?

Because if someone gambled and won points, these points would be classed as moneys worth because they could be used to purchase something in the shop which other members have paid for by buying points to make the purchase of that shop item.

I think you would need to hide the shop and any items of value

From what those PDF's say it is ok to purchase points if the only winnings is more points that have no £££ value and are used to regamble

It would be good if the betting app was standalone or the shop was not accessible

But if this is the case how could someone purchase points in order to gamble?

The points don't have to be bought they can be earned from creating content etc ( so they are free that way ), You don't have to offer them points via a stand alone commerce package either, then they have no actual moneys worth, I would also say if you offered them x amount of points free when they upgrade their usergroup etc then they still have no actual value, they purchased the membership upgrade not the points.

You would need to disable the shop and just use the points earning system from it, the shop has lots of permissions for user groups each item so you could only allow x user groups to buy x item/s etc.

Buying an upgrade which includes free points - Can this be done via ip commerce, your shop or can I choose either option?

Thanks

commerce, Any package you have / will create in there you can award points to give them when they buy / renew it, And you would put in the description you will get xxx free points after your membership upgrade purchase is complete etc, You could also allow membership upgrades from the members shop but that's bought via points not £££

Hi,

OK sorry to be a pain but we wanted to get this right lol

We have decided not to do it though a membership upgrade

We feel confident there is no problem to sell a pack of 5000 or 10000 points as the sole way to monetize the points, member shop and betting addon.

How do we sell these 5000 and 10,000 pack of points in IPcommerce?

FYI the reason we feel there is no problem and in case this helps anyone else, in the UK Gambling commision document regarding Virtual currencies, eSports and social gaming - Loyalty points as money’s worth:

5.13 We maintain the view that winning additional items such as chips, spins or tokens, even if they can otherwise be acquired by the payment of real money, will not in and of itself make an activity licensable.

However, where they can be converted into cash or traded (for items of value) they would be caught as ‘money or money’s worth’ meaning underlying games could be caught as licensable gambling activities.

If anyone feels we have misinterpreted the above, please comment, thanks.

One other thing to help with compliance and demonstrate this is an online social gaming experience only is to have some kind of leader board showing who has the most points.

Is this doable in betting app or even better, the members shop as that also contains additional games?

Check the statistics tab in the members shop menu in the nav bar, that has all graphs & tables with lots of info in
