Email spam

I keep getting the odd ones slipping through. I was hoping the emails would be checked against the IPS Spam Defense database like new registrations are.

I get these emails often and just delete them. I won't disallow guests from using "contact us" because I require prospective members to write to me before I'll temporarily re-enable registration for them to join. That's my process.

I have allowed guests to post on blog and frontpage articles. I've had it set up like that for a while. Though my board is small and obscure, and no legitimate guest has ever posted, I'm very surprised spammers haven't tried to post in those areas where guest posting is allowed.

That too wouldn’t filter them out 100% of the time. It’s just not possible.

Agreed! I've just had another one on one of my sites with such a blatant keyword. ?

Perhaps they know something I don't know!

yup...I see a pattern here. I get one of these same spam Contact Us emails every week or so.

I have noticed that if they break just one of the questions thats enough for them to get in all the time.
