motomac Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 It would be very useful if topic logs have information where a topic was moved from. Now it has only by whom and when.
Management Lindy Posted March 7, 2016 Management Posted March 7, 2016 For better understanding, why would you care where it's moved from?
motomac Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 @Lindy I think, the information that a topic was moved is useless without the information where is was moved from Sometimes there are situations when you need to know the history of the topic. For example, when the moderator moved it mistakenly.
Ocean West Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 having a trace history is helpful, I had to employ an add-on tool (advance tags & prefixes) so to first tag all the topics from one forum then merged two together Months later it was decided that i needed to split them back, this case was different cause the mass move merge / split was of my own doing. Since a post has a moderator history with regards edits I would say it's fair that moving a post qualifies as a moderator action and accordingly be logged. At the 35,000 foot view if there was a way to see a trend where there is a higher percentage of posts being moved from one place to another place this could be helpful to whom is doing the bulk of the work, and perhaps give you insight that the forum organization needs work or perhaps better descriptions & instructions.

Topics are logged, he is asking for more information here, which seems reasonable.
MADMAN32395 Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 How about move reason? Just like the hide reason.
Gabriel Torres Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Just to let you guys know that I solved this issue through a custom plugin developed by @newbie LAC
ZackL Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 How about an option to have transparent moderator actions? The idea would be like github issues/pull requests: Reasoning: General openness depending on the community wanting to know what the staff are doing. Useful for deleting/hiding a post. Textual example: For hiding a post, the log could read like: "Post by [x] has been hidden by [y]" (no reason given) or "Post by [x] has been hidden by [y] for: [z]" (reason (z) given)
motomac Posted October 25, 2017 Author Posted October 25, 2017 @Gabriel Torres could you please give a link to this plugin?
Gabriel Torres Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 @motomac It works like a charm, you should contact @newbie LAC in private. This is a custom plugin not offered in the marketplace.

It would be really useful for undoing moves made by staff members, either because the move is contested or because it was moved to a temporary area to resolve an issue.
