@Mike John: Is it possible to embed the video instead of the thumbnail for discussions?

Yes, try the "%EMBED%" quick tag instead. Should grab the full video embed that the Videos app generates instead.

Thanks @Mike John, the above worked great.

I'm planning to roll more of my own video content, however this past week I have been heavily focusing on studying my sites SEO. I wasn't able to actually find any of the video content when searching for it, they all appeared on pages [3] and after - whereas any content I placed inside articles ranked much better being usually found in Google on the first page (commonly positioned [1] to [5] on the opening search page).

I know I've suggested a fair amount of requests for this but please can we get an update which includes meta? (Keywords/Description).

This should really had extra benefits to the application since it will allow for better SEO. :)

I'll note and make sure this is applied next update.

Edit: I'll be doing another beta round for all my apps again soon.

If you need any help, I'm always available to assist Mike - I keep meaning to PM you but since you seem busy (I don't like intruding but I hope you release the plugin we last worked on - don't forget to invoice me). :)

Hi Michael,

Suggestion for next version:

Is it possible to add a pellet (indicating the number of new videos (not view) added by member's) on the "Video" tab?

See screen below

What do you think about ?

Can you clarify which location your referring to? Is that the navigation tab or profile tab in a members profile?

Yes it's on the navigation tab

For each new video "unread" this number increases

I'll consider it next version but my concern would be the resource usage required. I believe that's why IPS themselves don't have a count displayed on the forums tab itself for new content.

I've just updated the Videos app with several minor and crucial bug fixes. Support has also been added for changing the video author and next/previous video links.

@Mike John, would you be able to tell me what features you have inline for the next major version? I assume this will be for 4.2.

I'm just curious as to which of my suggestions may be implemented.

Until I see what's needed to upgrade for 4.2 I can't really comment. It may just be a quick update to ensure compatibility or it may need more work.

I did look into the meta report you provided in this release however. It appears to be already generating meta data as part of IPB4 itself based on the video description field. So if that's not the case for you, can you please PM me the board affected so I can take a look?

Hi,

Is it possible to add Twitch.tv live streams using this app?

Thanks.

Hey Mike.  Everything is working fine with the app, except when I set a Maximum Video Width... no video shows.  If it's set to something other than unlimited, when I upload, there is nothing.  If set to unlimited, the video shows up.

4.1.19.x

Does anyone have a list of video sites with oEmbed? Also, is there a tutorial for adding videos from random video sites with no oEmbed?

No not currently.

Any change after you've edited the video? (Don't need to change any details, just edit and see if embed works) Just thinking there might be an issue with the embed code being generated.

Here is a complete list of IPB4's own supported sites as well.

For some reason it's working now.  The other videos I uploaded earlier are now working.  I just tried a bunch of video and sizes they all work.  Maybe there was some corruption with the cache which I cleared out between now and the time I wrote in this thread.

  • 2 weeks later...

What I've found is that if you set the max video width to XXX and then want to change that width on all the videos after uploading them, all you have to do is clear the cache (at least on youtube videos).  This will only work on videos which were added with a max width.  Videos added while the setting were unlimited will not be affected by a change in the video width and a cache clear.

It would also be great to have an option to center the video when not using "unlimited".

Would we be able to get the ability to share to 'Our Picks' with the future updates? Also, auto-fill (Title/Description) from YouTube would be super.

Thanks for the information, I'll try and include this in the very next update.

I haven't had a chance to look into the Out Picks feature, is it supported in IPS apps other then forums? Auto fill support will be added in the next major release, I've already gotten code for it and just need to include it.

You can share articles from IP.Pages, so I would assume it can be expanded to other areas. I don't really know for sure as I am just getting to grips with 4.2

@Mike John: I am now experiencing an error which prevents me from seeing my notifications, even if I disable the video app - I still experience it. IPS have recommend speaking you about it as I found it a bit strange as to why it would persist.

Looking forward to the 4.2 update, thanks. :)

Was this still on Videos v3.2.1? That should contain all the IPB 4.2 patches I know of so far.
