Thanks for the reply Bfarber

I did reply back last night to let them know that I already have a license. I am still waiting and hoping for something to be sorted before the weekend takes hold.

I upgraded from 2.0.3 to 2.1.2 The upgrade went rather well, but my custom skin is messed up big time. I have to adapt the CSS, "redo" the IBportal and when I search, my results suddenly have a different layout.

Why not a security patch??? This sucks... :(

BTW, I like the new admin (don't know which version this was first featured)

2.0 Skins aren't compatible with 2.1.

Update your ticket noting this

Interesting you mention this, I have just complained about the ticket system here.
If IPB doesn't respond you never get a chance to escalate the ticket as long as you keep on providing new information to IPB...... :ermm:

I have a question about the calendar, I know from 2.0 to 2.1 there has been problems but it wont show range events or Recurring Events int he calender on the forum index. It will only show single events.

For example on my forum, http://community.bansheeforce.net it shows the events that are single but it wont show the Halloween event which should be but its not because its a Recurring Event.

I try to update the Cache for the calendar many times but it does not seem to work. I dont know if the calendar is met to not show these events on the board index (if so that kind of breaks the point of the calendar) and if they should show well then either my board is just messed up or this is a bug that seems to still be in 2.1.2 as I had the same problem in 2.1 and 2.1.1.

Posted

I confirmed with 2.1.2 I could see ranged and recurring events (that were coming up within the predefined calendar stats range) on my board index. If a ranged or recurring event was occuring within the next X days (as configured in the ACP), I can see it.

If you cannot, I would recommend submitting a ticket through the Client Center so we can take a look.

Again, this is not a support topic for IPB. :)

bfarber,

I had to disagree here regarding some issue as link insert problem for example:

1 - Problem with some JS error is becouse somehow if you upgrade your from from 2.0.x to 2.1.1 then to 2.1.2, skin will not update, no matters waht you do (I have only one skin, and it the main IPB skin).

It only work when you do clean install either 2.1.1 and upgrade to 2.1.2, or clean install of 2.1.2, then thing work ok without the above problem.

2 - I Submit a ticket, but it did not get solved, not to put the IPS tech. personals here, no way, they are always great and in fact, one of IPS strongest good points, but seem they are no fix, only work around, as in inset link, you need to highlight the text, then submit the link within the popup window and it work that way, as I said, this work around issue, not the real fix, as in my clean istall popup window for link take the link name as well.

Agree this not support topic, but i felt I should post this usse here, my best

I upgraded from 2.0.3 to 2.1.1 to 2.1.2, and except for the calendar issues, and the link issue, most everything seems to be OK. I haven't added any new skins yet; I'm just using all the old skins that I was using in 2.0.3. And from what I can see, most everyone in my forums are using the default 2.1.2 skin, anyway.

Most of the buttons in the editor don't work the way I expect them to, however.

Like when you highlight a word, and click the boldface, italic, underline or strikethrough buttons: rather than inserting and wrapping the bb code aroung the highlighted text, you get the popup. This also happens with the alignment buttons, quote and code buttons in the new editor. However, the url, email and img buttons wrap the bb code when you highlight text and click those buttons.

Also, the users of my board were wondering what happened to the "BBCode Help" link next to the link for the smilie popup. Not everyone is terribly computer savvy, and I think it's odd that when adding BB Code, it asks for a hint, but there's nowhere for board users to see those hints.

I cant open a ticket because it saids page not found. Yes I click the link in the members area. Also it seems the adding new events is still not placing them on the right date. For example I added a event for Halloween on the 31st and I had to set the date to November 1st because everytime I set it to the 31 of Oct it would set to the 30ths of Oct and no matter what I do it wont change to the 31st, so I had to set it to the 1st and its showing on the 31st, seems to me that I had this problem before and it hasnt been fixed. I'm just about to just turn off my calendar because it seems to be the only thing giving me problems. My ticket about my upgrade problem, I asked if it could be looked at to make sure it had been fully upgraded and I was told it was.

EDIT it just now open up rigth for me, I'm just going to reply to the ticket I still have open about my upgrade.

I'm sorry everyone, again this isn't a support topic and if you are having any sort of technical issue or experiencing what you believe to be a bug you should either

1) Post it in the bug tracker so we can confirm/deny it
2) Submit a support ticket so we can look into it on your site.

I won't debate the "link issue" any further here. :)

[... quoted my question about code tag replacing tabs with spaces ...]

It has always done this. HTML doesn't know what a tab is.

No! Earlier [ CODE ] replaced each tab with a single space and [ CODEBOX ] didn't replace (they left as tabs!). Now [ CODE ] replaces each tab with 4 spaces... Here's example:

CODE

2 tabs 3 tabs

	1 tab

P.S. Er... Maybe I should post this as a bug?

Posted

I don't get what "bug" there is.

Even if the code box didn't do that in previous versions, what is the problem? If I post code that has tabs that helps you to visually see where functions and such break at, removing those tabs actually makes it harder to read in the code section.

If you want to post it as a bug, you are free to do so, but I'll tell you right now it's working as intended. :)

Posted

I think the 'bug' is that tabs are replaced by (let's say) four spaces when using CODE whereas they remain as (let's say) eight-space tabs when using CODEBOX.

It doesn't really bother me but is Chortos-2 suggesting CODE should reproduce (eight-space) tabs correctly rather than reducing them?

No-one forces you to upgrade, Matt isn't holding a gun to your head threatening you to use your FTP client or else..

Get a grip, and stop whining.

Nobody was forcing them to release 2.1.1 with bugs in it either. I have done 17 mods to 2.1.1 so now I have to either keep a bugged 2.1.1 or spend countless time changing new files or else figuring out differences somehow to change the old ones. As ytou can see, I have already gone 2 weeks not upgrading to 2.1.2. I just keep modding away at 2.1.1. And like that other poster said, they could just release 2.1.3 right as i finish modding 2.1.2 just like they did from 2.1.1 to 2.1.2. Not to mention gallery still not being fixed, so i am using that with bugs.

I wish someone would tell me what all files are changed just for CALENDAR. It is annoying me to death. I put Christmas for December 25'th. It then showed it on the 25th, but when editing, still had the date as 24th. Then when i tried to approve it (which I never even knew I had to approve my own calendar events!) it said there was no event for that date! AND NOW it wont even SHOW it on the 25th. It SHOWS it on the 24th and when I go to edit it and change it to 25th it STILL changes right back to the 24th! Calendar isnt even used hardly ever and now this sure isnt going to get it any new fans!

I understand what you're saying, Bashers, but from a businessman's standpoint I can see why releasing incremental updates with bug fixes is more important to IPS than making the updates convenient for modders to install. Consider the fact that we admins who mod our boards are in the minority when compared to the tens of thousands of IPB owners worldwide.

How organized are you about documenting your modifications? If you're very organized then it won't be as big a pain as for some board operators. Still, it's a hassle, but the mere fact you're able to modify the source files doesn't mean that IPS has to make this their first priority in providing updates. Sure, it would be nice of they did, but the larger sector of the user base has to come first. Convince five to ten thousand customers to become avid modders, and IPS would likely cator to our needs.

As for skipping IPB 2.1.2 I don't blame you. I've done the same thing. I noticed some areas that I knew would still need to be polished, so I'm holding out for 2.1.3, which will probably be available sometime next week.

Not to mention gallery still not being fixed, so i am using that with bugs.

Still not being fixed? Version 2.0.2 was released when, like yesterday I think? And 2.0.3 is around the corner.

IG 2.0.2 wasnt released yesterday as far as I can tell. 1.3 is still the only version int he download area. I am using 2.0.2, but it is te version which came out a while back which has some bugs still. I do see the next one should be out this week though, so I am guessing tomorrow or Monday.

As for the mods I have done, I basically have them all listed and know where the original files all are whre I can re-read the install instructions. But that still could be a big pain. I never modded anything before until this version and now I went nuts modding and still have at least 6 more I want to do. lol Maybe I will try to do a compare file but that may be time consuming too. Although if I can get a list of all files I changed, I wouldnt have many to have to look at differences for. Although another big problem is they changed the file name structure of cache files. So I may just wait.

There is no upgrade info in my package in the customer center...

So apparently altho I am entitled to it, I cannot upgrade my gallery at this time? :(

I hope I don't have to make a ticket for this....but it doens't make sense that we're told to go to the customer center to look in our purchases for something we're supposed to have that's not even there... >_<

Oh Adam actually said it would be there? I havent read here much lately. All i know is it says in the download area it will be there by the end of the month...

I just uploaded only files which were obvious calendar or editor files and they have solved a lot of my issues without me having to upgrade! Calendar works fine EXCEPT on the index page the tooltip says today's date for 2 events for this weekend (saturday and monday actually). So if someone can tell me where the tooltip setting would be, I can have calendar working great. For editor, all along my code button was missing for rte and was there but no picture for std editor. Both probs fixed by simply uploading these very few files. Although there is no tooltip for those buttons. I am guessing that goes in the template bit.

Posted

The only things I feel I really need to fix are 1. it says most online can reset stats so I need to know how to solve that and 2. it says removing someone from a group leaves the group as a secondary group? something like that... I obviousy need to fix these 2, if anyone knows which files pertain to them.

Wouldnt mind fixing the tooltip over events from calendar on index page either though.

edit: I am getting good at this. ;) I uploaded some language files for editors, and it fixed the code tooltip problem.

edit again: ok I give up. obviously I wont fix much on my own. Calendar started going right back to not working (showing htings the wrong day). At least I fixed the code icon. But those 2 major issues I listed earlier need to be fixed, and I am sure someone knows which files are needed just for those 2 issues.

1) The calendar tooltip issue will be fixed in 2.1.3. Issue is in func_boardstats.php it doesn't reset the tooltip (so if you have a ranged event following a normal event, it inherits the tooltip).

The calendar issues will be resolved with 2.1.3. The option to use a time zone setting is slightly pulled out of the add event feature, to prevent what you are describing (events showing on the wrong day).

Gallery 2.0.3 was just released today. :)

And please understand. I realize everyone likes to mod their boards (heck, I should know ;) ), but the thing is, we don't want to NOT release an update package when we could help users resolve various issues, just because it is difficult for modders to readd their code changes.

We are looking into a method of sorting this out for future upgrades, hopefully so that those users who like to mod their boards will have an easier upgrade experience. It's difficult and time consuming to document each and every code change we make as we are working on an upgrade, and relatively unnecessary for the majority of users. Thus we have to find some sort of common ground. The exact methods we use to do this have not been finalized however.

Do I dare ask if we are seeing 2.1.3 before the weekend?

Well, I haven't been here too long...but it's my belief that a Friday release is probably not the best bet (especially since I just started working on IPB). If there were any problems, most of us are off on Saturday and Sunday, and it wouldn't be too good to leave someone's site down for an entire weekend, right?

Those are just my thoughts though. I don't set the specific release dates. :)

I'm thinking we'll see IPB 2.1.3 next week, tons of bugs were fixed this week and not many more have been coming in (great job Brandon!).
