In the age of AI and Social Media, there are more bots than ever. I recently noticed we are giving up 70% of our server load to HEAD requests. This appears to be fueling a constant load on the database even when there is very little activity from members. If you are seeing a kind of pumping activity of load rise and fall, it is probably from this. I have blocked HEAD requests to mitigate this activity because it is being done by dynamic IP sources without user agents and or ignoring robots.txt. Hi I'm looking for your help and advise, have you ever seen bulk mail sent twice in your community but the user didn't do it? Here is a screenshot of the bulk mail screen. It has recorded being sent to 1002 members, which is exactly twice the number it should have been. Please note its UK dates day/month/year so it happened last week. Looking at the Admin Log, we can see the bulk mail being Added and Edited by John but recorded as sent twice. Normally, from my testing we would only see one record for each time it was sent but look at the time. If John had sent it a second time, the bulk mail screen would record 501 members not doub…

Hello, I keep getting the following error when trying to upload PDF files on the slightly larger side. Files uploads around 20 MB will sometimes complete and sometimes not, but if the file is around 25 MB or larger, it never completes, and I get the following error: I have seen elsewhere that this is usually a PHP settings issue, but it persists even after setting extraordinarily generous PHP ini settings, for example: max_execution_time = 600 max_input_time = -1 (I assume -1 means unlimited, but I have also tried with this setting at 600 to no effect) max_input_vars = 16000 memory_limit = 2048M post_max_size = 1024M upload_ma…

Was planning on moving from ElasticSearch to OpenSearch in the weekend and wanted to check if anyone had any experience with going with the newest version (2.6.0). Going by the OpenSearch documentation it states they are only introducing breaking changes between major versions, but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it as it is not always easy to do full testing in a dev environment. I can't seem to figure this out and the entire site is offline. I was in the middle of an S3 move of theme resources back to to the server and its been hanging on a move in progress for two days. I checked the cron job and ran the task manually twice, then this error. I tried to set into recovery mode and also permission set via constants.php file. I use redis and my datastore folder is empty. I've checked the database and no issues. Access updated

I offloaded most of my site to Wasabi-S3. I have many articles that use the "Insert Existing Attachment -> Gallery Image" function. Now that the move is complete, those embedded images do not render properly in the article. If you hover the link, it just shows a link to the top level of the album rather than the image. However, if you edit the article, you can see the proper attachment at the bottom of the article in the attachments bar, and it easily reinserts itself into the article. On my site there seem to be quite a difference between the maximum amount of visitors to members' profiles displayed in the latest visitors block. While some show up to 11, others only show up to 5, and of course I'm only comparing profiles for members I know must have received more visits than either amount. So, I'm trying to work out the reason behind this difference, if there's some setting somewhere that determines the max. number of visitors shown for each profile. Hi, In the Gallery section, when viewing some images, they are not shown in full, that is, only a portion of them is seen as if they had not finished being downloaded to be displayed. Hi everyone, hope someone can help. I currently have 4.6.12.1 running on a self hosted server with PHP 7.4. My hosting provider has eventually (after 18 months of asking) made available a server with PHP 8.x. However, during the migration process that the hoisting provider has performed they are getting "ini_set" errors and can't proceed. So this leaves me unable to upgrade my software to 4.7.14 on the old server, as it does not support PHP 8.x, and unable to load the older version of the software on the new server as PHP 8.x does not support "ini_set". Ahrrrrrr! Any suggestions?

Hi, We've been having issues every 6 hours when the badge status cache expires and they regenerate. This causes our (rather large) DB to hit 100% CPU and the forums become unresponsive. Looking into this, the issue is that multiple threads will try to get the badge stats at once when they expire: \IPS\core\Achievements\_Badge::getBadgeStats() We have approximately 40 concurrent requests trying to regenerate these stats every 6 hours. As a work around, we are temporarily updating the stats expiration while we re-generate the statistics, this results in it only running once per 6 hours (instead of 40 times) if( !isset( $stats['expiration'] ) OR…

Hello, I noticed a strange issue with editing an image out of a topic today. When I tried to deleted an inserted image (mistakenly placed at the end of a post), it would seemingly remove from the post, however upon saving the edit the image would return. I have tried a few times and have the same result. I have disabled all my plugins/apps as well as switching back to the default theme to see if that causing the issue, but it made no difference. Hi all, I've been struggling to get my server to support auth headers for the API. I am using Plesk to manage everything and the forum is hosted on Apache with FPM. Hello! I'm planning to move our forum's user-uploaded content (images, attachments, etc.) to S3 bucket compatible storage. I'd appreciate insights on: Key Considerations: Are there any specific technical or logistical factors I should be aware of before making the switch? Hi, In our community we have different groups of people set up to be able to edit groups via the Admin CP (as expected). It has been noticed for a while that even when somebody with permission to give a certain tag does so, if the person they're editing has a role that they can't assign it will remove it. I.e. An Admin edits another Admin to add a role that they both can add, it will remove their Admin role... it appears that the software basically removes all the roles and then re-assigns with the edits. Is this intended behaviour or is this a bug that's gone un-noticed?? Just a bit of a pain as myself and my team as website management are the only ones …

I had a member not able to enter or reset their 2FA for account verification. A private message was popping up with its element overlapping the verification window, see image below. I was able to use uBlock's element zapper to remove it. This enabled entering in the answer to their 2FA question. Possibly a bug? Ted.

Hi, I'm not sure what's going on with my registration. On the registration form, the Security check is showing a blank area. Users are being blocked from creating a new account, even after entering the Q&A challenge questions and other required fields. I'm updating all of my various sites today in anticipation of moving to a new server which only has PHP 8.x. I've not had a problem with my main site, which was IC 4.5.x or 4.6.x. All I had to do was start the upgrade, get an error pointing out that the PHP version (then 7.4) was too low. I changed the version on the server and restarted the upgrade. I'm caught in a trap with one of my sites, though, which is on 4.4.6. I have a single member getting the Your account does not require validation Error code: 2S129/4 message and member is going direct to forum not an email link and has been a member since 2014. I have also tried logging in as him and get the same message. Running 4.7.2.1 version and please don't tell me to upgrade to latest version as I am not interested in doing that as I have had no problems with any other member with this issue to date. I can provide member login info to IPS support staff in a PM if needed. Thanks
