SQL Debugger should show _all_ queries
by Guest Ueland- 0 replies
- 1.6k views
Today the SQL debugger dont show all queries, in order to actually be able to debug correctly we need to view all the SQL queries in an easy matter. ;) On our board the SQL traffic is up to ~50-60 Mbit , 10 of those comes from the "SELECT * FROM intra_skin_sets WHERE set_skin_set_id=foo" queries. The resultset of the cache query wich is run on every page-load is 0.5MB, so i guess that the query is responsible for a large part of the SQL traffic. So my wish is simple: Let the SQL debugger show every query :)

Adding/Removing Moderators
by Guest Rοb- 4 replies

This is something that has bugged me for a while so i thought i would post here on the off-chance a member of staff might read it and agree! If you have a board with many different forums/sub-forums it is a virtual nightmare to add/remove moderators. See the chap to the left on my avatar? Thats me adding/removing a few moderators via the ACP! Firstly, on the main page you can add a moderator (or group) to selected forums using tickboxes (which is great), but it should also include the sub-forums so you can add moderators to them without having to click inside the parent forum(s). Secondly, an option (per forum perhaps) that gives moderators the same permissions on a…

Suggestion

Many blogging sites are implementing this tool (GeSHi) to help people paste code snippets (language independant) with color coding. Why not extend it to be used for forums as well? This forum software already has a blogging add-on, and implementations that I've seen for blogging software use this like BBCode, it shouldn't be too hard of an implementation. I don't know if this would mess up any internals to the core system if it were integrated, but I don't see why/how it would (obviously I wouldn't, but you would!). An example of its default output could be found here and the official homepage can be found here.

Reliable Banning ! 1 2
by Guest bwyatt- 40 replies
I would really love it if a future release would have realiable banning systems. Simple thing is: When you ban someone, they dont stay banned and always return. IP banning always fails because of people with dynamic addresses. I dont know how you can exactly do this, but it would be nice if you could give it a try.

Suggestion - Topic auto prune
by Guest fishsponge- 0 replies

It would be really nice to have an auto prune feature! I have an RSS-fed forum which is rapidly filling up, so having the ability to delete all topics older than x days automatically would be a major advantage!

user duplicate IP addresses
by Guest T22- 4 replies

If would be awesome if there was a button in the ACP where you could just click on the button and it would show you ALL the users with duplicate IP addresses, WITHOUT having to know the IP address. If InfoPop can do this, you guys can do it with your eyes closed.

demotion
by Guest inis- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
maybe a way to demote members based on post count, I know you can promote based off post count.... but what about demote? Me and my other root admin thought of this after having validation approved. We could send them to a zero post count group, which basicly had a forum where says all the rules and to post to saying "ok" or whatever, then after that one post it demotes that group and promotes another. Kinda confusing (w00t)

RSS Robot - Needs work
by Guest Stephen- 1 reply
- 1.6k views
I think some areas need work in regards to their support for the RSS robot. Some areas treat it in a special manner yet some treat it as a normal members. For example its posts aren't counted (which I agree with) yet it is still counted on the "top 10 posters of the day" which to me seems silly. I think he needs to be one way or the other, not a mix of the two. Either treat it as a robot, therefore not showing profile links, not counting on active members etc or treat it as a normal member.

Subscription and email enhancements
by Guest klwebb- 2 replies
- 2.4k views
Would like to see settings that will allow one to email subscribers based on type of product purchased. Need a way to be able to add subscriptions that do not show up on the registration page for new members but do show up for members that already exist or have a certain membership. In other-words have a mechanism that will allow members to select additional products based on their current membership from within the control panel. I would like to force all to select a subscription but in doing so they are forced to use a pay system even if I put "0.0" in the payment field. If I do not select the force subscription then it is placed in the listing but IPB then does n…

My Favourite Smilies
by Guest theclub- 0 replies
- 1.6k views
l have just installed this mod .. Favourite Emoticons What this does is allows you to choose which smilies you want in the box when you post a topic or reply. You select the ones you want, save your choices, and then only those appear in the box. If you want the full list you just click on 'Show All' as usual. l think this has been needed for a long time and should be incorporated into the next version. :)

Ajax Floatable Smilies Popup
by Guest Voltemort- 1 reply
- 2.1k views
Wouldn't it be great if you got rid of the dumb-classic window smilies popup? (When selecting "Show All" smilies) It would be replaced by a nice floatable ajax content box. Just like My Assistant! It would also be a good thing if you could resize it on the fly.. :)

Product Integration
by Guest jordanthegreat- 3 replies

Hello, I didnt know where to ask this as there is no board for General discussion of products but here I go anyway. I see that you guys make alot of very interesting products for web development. I was wondering though if you make them to integrate with each other well. Take for example, if I used your message boards and your blog, could I have it so that a person registered on the board is automatically registered on the blog as well? Thanks, Jordan

Hello! Can you make go1.gif and go2.gif for the Go button of the index page? Because the Go button for 'login' and 'search' are the same on the meanings in English, but in other language it will coz translation problems. Or whould you cancel the Go button instead of 'Login' and 'Search' button? Thank you!

More Skins
by Guest jimjonez- 5 replies

lol umm i know this may be a little offending but i'm sure many agree the default skin is not cool at all... and with 2.1.x being kind of fresh there arent many skins to choose from but the little that people submit to invisionize.com maybe IPS can do somthing like Vbulletin and supply skins or hire 1 or 2 skin makers on the site or something just a suggestion

I would like the ability to mark topics of interest. For example if there is a topic you want to return to later without having to worry about finding it, you can simply mark it of interest and you can go to your assistant for example and find the topics of interest to you.

Well I noticed this feature in 2.1.3 version. It was not there in the earlier version!! I have two domain pointing to my forums. I will discontinue one of the domain for other purpose. ..::BEFORE::.. version 2.1.1 When I use to post the links which point to my own forum i use to put it like this [url = /forums/index.php?=blablabla] CLICK HERE [/url] I gives me a dynamic link, ie the link would point to same location even if i change my domain or IP. When I post the above TAG it the link comes out like this. http://accesseddomainNameOrIP/fourms/index.php?=blablabla ..::Now Version 2.1.3::.. Now when I repeat the above step ie use the TAG like this [url …

well anyways i have these questions: if you buy a license, and it says it can only be installed once, but what do you do if something goes wrong, and you have to reinstall? I also need to know if you can upload it on a webhost, and then get a domain, and use it with that. And does a domain still keep the same name in the url bar when changing pages on the same board, or is that DNS control. if it is where can i get that. i also need some webhosts that you pay YEARLY Thanks for any help

Error Messages
by Guest theclub- 1 reply
A lot of the error messages are the same even though the errors are different, and the message often bears no relevance to the problem. When someone clicks on a forum they don't have permission to view, for instance, they are told to log in. It would be good if admin had control over these messages so we can customise them to fit each instance. l know we can change the words in the language files, but we can't assign different messages to each error. :)

some more suggestions!

Ah, i think i have some more suggestions! I think the ability to have the theme selector available to guests is nessecarry*. Its a pain in the back side when your skinning IPB and you have to make that incomplete skin the default so that you want see what it looks like for guests (the login screen and warnings for example...) As for the posting screen, i think it would be a good idea to have the smilies table and the test editior in one block to make things more compact. i cant describe it so i'll illustrate it instead. Another idea is the abaility to switch from STE to RTE and vice versa in the posting screen (which ive mentioned before!) Another thing which im…
