I think it would be useful to be able to customise the level of validation required on an account dependant on certain customisable parameters. For instance email addresses - the administrator could create a list of email providers (hotmail etc) and when a user registers using one of them it triggers full admin validation, if a user isn't using an email provider within the list they can register with just the normal email link validation. It could also work with ip addresses, perhaps have an optional setting where if an ip address of someone registering has been used on the forum before then full admin validation is required. Other options could be keywords within the …

Please help. I was messing around in "Global_Board_Header" and somehow manged to mess up my forum layout. Now my "Help", "Search", "Members" etc are now listed below each other rather than alongside each other as they used to be. Here is a picture of my issue... Here is the code I currently have within "Global_Board_Header".... Any help is greatly appreciated. :thumbsup:

Problems After 2.3.3 Upgrade

Before support upgraded my forums to 2.3.3 I had no problems with Server Loads to my site yet after support upgraded my software I started having all kinds of problems. Too many resources being used, causing my webhost provider to issue me a warning. For some reason, even Support can't figure out what the problem is. Exactly what do I do about this issue?

I just thought of something I asked years back. So far I have always installed hacks for number of users browsing forum and users browsing topics. Do you think that will ever be part of a standard install? I know other boards have had that for a long time and I have had it installed since version 1.2. Does nobody else miss this feature?? PS, the last time I checked the hack for number of users viewing this forum was badly written and used way too many queries. I would prefer a solid install making this part of IP board.

Since I upgraded to the latest version spammers trying to join has vanished. I was getting at least 15 plus a day and now none at all. Not sure what was done or if its coincidence (I don't think that likely though) but whatever was done is very welcome

Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible. Everyone on my forum is getting this message. Although I am admin for the forum, I am not the person who currently pays for it. Does the above mean that there is a problem with payment, and if so, what do I need to do to sort it out. I haven't a clue who to contact and I have 150 very grumpy users emailing me!

Considering very few people use ICQ, MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger, perhaps we could add (if not replace) spots for Facebook and MySpace profile links, since those seem to be more popular these days. Does anyone else share this sentiment?

Would like the ability to refer members. JoeUser has lots of friends and wants to get credit for referring them to your forum. He can send them via link like: yourforum.com/index.php?refer=1234 where 1234 is JoeUser's user number. Member registers and his referedby field indicates 1234, or JoeUser's number. JoeUser sent so many members and helped your forum grow, because there was an incentive and now he gets $50 and a free tshirt. vB has had this ability for a long time, and it's one of the features I really miss after switching to Invision way back when.

Folder Icon backgrounds

I have been with Invision for so long I cannot remember anything else, but the one thing that consistently gets me is the color of the background on the folder images. I know we are recycling them from one skin to another but how hard could it be to match the background color of the row that displays the folder icons to the background color of the icons. If you market a piece of top line piece of software (and may I add that in my opinion Invision is just that) then you have to look at the smallest of details. Bug with name changing when multiple cookies

I have two boards for two gaming guilds. We moved from one the the other as the guild was renamed. On the Previous guild my admin name was NAME1, on the new forum my admin name was NAME2. I am the root admin on both. I logged in the new forums and then opened a new window to the new forums so I could read a PM that I got. I responded to it after logging in the old forums and then went back to the new forums (both separated servers hosting each forums). On the new forums my name was changed to the old forums name (NAME1). I had to go to the admin panel and change my own name. The new forums do not have display names. I suppose this is a bug. Suggestion, set suspended members member group to "Suspended"

When I suspend someone through the warn panel, they stay in the same group. I'd like them to be moved to a 'Suspended' group (or at least say that they are) so other people can see that they've been naughty... Thats about it. :)

Well, I loved the older version of IPB (1.3), but I have no clue how to get it. I had a web host prolly a year ago that had it as a part of the hosting. Is there any way to get it? or can I only get the newest release? If I can get it, is it free? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I know this is something you can easily do in the skin, but it may make more sense if it was the default... Basically instead of getting a menu when clicking on edit, just simply go to quick edit automatically. If java script is disabled, it would go to full edit. From quick edit if it's needed, the user can choose the full editor button. Also, you could make it where if the user is holding "Shift" while clicking it would use the full editor. For me I rarely go back into the full editor. Most of the time it's to fix simple spelling or grammatical mistakes.

Can the Quick Edit in IP.Board be remodeled so when pressing the keyboard shortcut keys it completes the edit? Exactly like how posting is, by hitting the Shift+Alt+S keys on your keyboard. Currently, other softwares have their quick edits AJAX powered both ways. What I mean by that, is that AJAX comes into play when you click the quick edit button, however it doesn't come into play by pressing those keys. Currently, another payware brand who's name I won't mention in regards to the community rules here, uses AJAX in conjunction with that keyboard shortcut and completes the quick edit.

1) Here, at the end of the page, there's an image written "Take the IP.Board 2.2 Feature Tour" on it. Shouldn't it be updated to 2.3? 2) At tour pages, the dropdown menus don't work because links are forwarded to new.invisionpower.com instead of invisionpower.com. Looks like you guys use "new" subdomain to test new versions of websites :P 3) Here, it says "Invision Power Services :: Community :: Board :: Home" in the title of the page which should be something like "Invision Power Services :: Community :: Board :: Free Demo". 4) Here, it says "demonstration of IP.Board 2.2, absolutely free." which should be "IP.Board 2.3". Hey guys I have quite an annoying problem that I can't seem to figure out.. It's to do with an add on I installed to my 2.3.3 version of the IPBoard, it's a 'HIDE HACK' add on that is obviously used to hide content until you reply in that topic. This works fine when I was actually viewing the topic, and I didn't have a problem, so in testing I did have to reply in order to reveal the hidden content. HOWEVER -> when I went browsing around and went to view another persons profile page, in the list of Topics they had posted the content there was not hidden, instead I could see the tags on the outside and the content was easily visible to me..
