Suggestions to the attachment system

I turned off the board attachment system to the members because it's very difficult to manage. I use IPG and IPD for uploading pictures and files, which make your site looks in good order and professional. I suggest IPS to make the attachment system connect with IPG and IPD, so that the members don't need to waste time to goto IPG or IPD if they just want to post pictures or files into a forum. For example, the administrator can setup the 'forum A' connected with the 'gallery category A' and the 'download category A'. So when the members upload .jpg/.gif/.png files, it will automaticly upload to the 'gallery category A' and show the pictures in the post, when the mem…

IPB3 mobile skin question

Not even sure if this is possible, but it'd be awesome if it is... Have a setting the user can set in their My Controls that, if enabled, will automatically detect if they're browsing on a mobile device. If so, automatically apply the mobile skin that comes with IPB3. Additional brownie points if you a) Allow the option to disable this for everyone in Admin CP b) Allow us to set which skin is the "mobile skin" that the website will change to, so if we have a custom mobile skin we can set it to that rather than IPB3's default mobile skin

I was reading the new BBCode blog post, and it got me to thinking - why aren't there videos about the IPB 3.0 features like there were with Nexus? Just a suggestion, but I'd really enjoy seeing some of them before the BETA versions start releasing, like there were with Nexus. After all, I'm sure everyone would agree that watching it happen would be much more interesting than reading the blog posts. :)

It is unacceptable that some IPS resources are paid downloads, for skins, mods, ETC. I do not agree with this, because I pay my license fee every 6 months to continue MY access to support, downloads, and more, and I should not have to pay for something that isn't even an IPS product. If authors want to post there paid skins its fine, just not in my resources section, maybe there could be a download category for paid products, but I think it is 100% unacceptable either way.

3-2 years ago , there was a mod a while back that let you edit the moderating team page and add groups to it in addition whichever member you wanted to to whichever category on the page.. Look at this screenshot if you can re-make it and make the moderating team page admin editable that would be awesome.

How about setting up an SSI/Include system for the shoutbox so it can be included on other areas of a website, such as standard html pages... much like the existing SSI set up can do?

ok.. my forum is big and i attention that there isnt a "economical tools" details: - after X Pms all they deletes or every X days the pms deletes - reduce warn every X - delete logs every X days - edit warn logs and another cool tool.. is a "bug reporter" like in windows.. when there's error you can send it to microsoft so you can also make like that in IPB and also find a security holes etc.. :)

Please help those with large Invision forums. My site has just passed the 1 million post mark, and if to upgrade to IB3 we to make changes to the ibf_posts table I can't upgrade. I know staff have said they will try to avoid this but I'm sure changes will be made at some point. Is it possible to split posts to more tables? For example ability to set amount (100k posts?) the new posts would be written to the new table. ibf_posts1 ibf_posts2 ibf_posts3 etc

I think it would be a good idea to include a Report button with each PM similarly to the Report button with each post. If someone feels threatened, harassed, spammed, etc. this would give them the ability to directly report the PM rather than trying to copy and paste it and have the admin worry about loosing accuracy, etc. Additionally, it would be great if in the AdminCP you can choose whether or not PM Reports will go to Admins and Moderators, just the Admin, etc.

is there a plan to incorporate the use of google gears with IPB to speed up the loading of the pages? wordpress 2.6 now has it with the turbo link inside the dashboard which caches locally some of the files (css, images, etc.) http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2008/07/02/gears/ ;)

RSS Export Manager : export as another URI

Hello, I was wondering if the addition of another setting in the RSS Export manager could be possible ? Assume we add a Redirect RSS URI to display this URI instead of IPB RSS URI (?act=rssout&id=xxx). It could enable usage of Feedburner to burn board RSS. So, if no redirect URI is set, IPB shows internal IPB RSS URI else, IPB shows the redirect RSS URI. It should be great and will not require a lot of work I guess. Thanks considering this :)

We have many forums where people reply with just a "Good!" or "OK!" or "Good job", etc. - and eventually we have 100s of pages of replies. I suggest in the PRUNE utility there be an option to LEAVE the Topic- but delete all the replies- in a forum.

I would like to see a feature where once an event is added to the calendar, members can set-up a reminder that will send them an e-mail. The member could set-up the reminder to be sent hour or hours, day or days, or a month in advance. I have seen and used this feature on several web calendar applications and have found it to be very useful. This feature works in conjunction with a cron job (on a unix/linux server). As a reference for this type of feature I suggest that you look at the Plans Web Calendar, http://planscalendar.com/index.php The Plans Web Calendar is a free application.

Occasionally we have a user that is deleted and then we end up re-creating their account. Their posts end up with "Guest_username" or other weird names (depending on what version of IPB we were running at the time) that make the posts hard to sort or search out. Sometimes we want to reassign the post or topic to a specific user as the author. Perhaps a change author of topic or post should be available to admins only, or configurable by the root admin to decide if the group or moderator can change author of topic or not. That would be a helpful feature.

Hi, Any users that go through proxies to get to an IPB 2.2 site with stronghold cookies enabled will have continued problems since their IP might change on a per request basis. I know for one that South Africa has a whole array of transparent proxies that cache international traffic and because of this setting in 2.2, i for one cant remain logged into any ipb 2.2 site that uses stronghold cookies. Now i dont think its fair that I contact every single administrator and ask them to disable it, because its fundamentally a flaw in the way the stronghold cookie was written. We are using alot different cathegories in our forum but, not every member needs all to view or post. I would like to suggest to make it possible that user can turn off not used cathegories in My Control so, that there is no need to scroll all the way up and down. :rolleyes:

if you apply a filter that converts all http to h -t -t p and www to w.w.w. etc then if you are running site to display youtube videos, they also stop working cuz of the bad word filter in action. If there is an exception option to opt out sites from filter ...... just like blacklists n white list, it would be great.
