I just don’t get it. (This support model or the issue that has left me with an unusable board for 2 hours or so). The issue just seems to be on rendering. It’s like the entire template and cache system went phut. All was working well, then dead site. Images display, just nothing theme related, just unformatted text and white space, no layout, no css, no themes, no admin theme either. Access logs are ok Any ideas?

Hey Right now I have no idea what is wrong. My site is not rendering. I think all 3rd party plugins and apps are disabled. Cache is cleared on site and in Stackpath. Both front end and admin are affected. No images displaying. No css. But all text is displaying. Can anyone help? Cheers John

Can you tell me if there are features that require xmlrpc? I am just thinking if it is a feature I don't use, if I turn it off then the requirements checker wouldn't trigger a need for that module.

Hi I am looking to migrate and noted that XMLRPC has been removed from the 8.0 rpm package. is XMLRPC still a requirement of an invision community? If it makes a difference my install has blog, gallery, store and pages. If it is optional, would I need to disable any settings or remove anything? Cheers John

I get occasional messages, generally during a bulk mail send, that files in the datastore are not writeable. In the last bulk send approximately 500 messages. I also get bounced emails with incorrect email addresses (I am guessing corrupted due to datastore issue. Before installation the I ran the system check which highlights any problem forum permissions, with no problem. The permissions seem to be ok, and looking at file dates, the files are still being written to at other times. Is there are more detailed permissions checker script? On a bulk mail send, when would the datastore be used? During a mail send would the directory and files be accessed by a process owned by apache only? Are other owners possible? What about groups? Is there a way to get a more detailed trace? I am currently getting abuse reports for emails sent where the 'to' email address is gibberish. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Charles. I guess the main thing is their core vitals tests. If they are punishing sites that fail them, then I am hoping that for both desktop and mobile there are sufficient tools/options to enable sites to pass those tests. That is the key concern. Some tests are easier than others. For example, a dashboard that helps admins optimise their site or track what could be going wrong. Cache control options, mirroring control options, a bulk image converter to webp or other modern compressed image formats, css and javascript optimisation and minifying, including deferral or disabling if features are not being used. I know some bits are there but they are spread out in admin.

Hi Maybe it’s happened and I just missed it. I see requests at least as far back as 2016. Google punishes sites that fail in core vitals and AMP support is a big part of achieving them. Google has a long history of prioritising sites that use it’s tech, especially if it is latest tech. To me, if you implement anything else, at a minimum AMP support is not only sensible, it is essential. Cheers John PS if I just missed it’s inclusion in features or the road map, sorry! Mobile on my invision forum is the only core vital any of my sites fail in. I run many sites using different platforms (mainly Wordpress) on a variety of hosts. It’s really frustrating!

Hi A quick question, does invision community work with PHP 7.4? If so, do you know what modules are required? With the deprecation of the .htaccess with 7.4, will there be any server set up changes/implications for invision? Cheers John

Hey I am using 4.4. I was thinking that using commerce along with downloads an ebook product could be sold by the community (as opposed to other members,) but so far it seems that admin would have to upload to the downloads area, just like any other member, and then sell via commerce. Am I right? Am I missing something? Subscriptions are pretty straight forward. Members selling one off products is pretty straight forward. Can anyone help? How does admin/staff sell one-off downloads using the invision suite? Cheers John
