I wanted to modify the reporting tools for the Downloads and Forums applications on my site. He gave me a schedule for when he could start and made steady progress, checking with me each step of the way. He persisted in making little changes until I graded it as perfect. I think these changes really enhance my site. I think this was the best experience I've ever had with a technical consultant. I hope I get to work with TeraByte again in the future.

Actually it shows it's disabled and when it wasn't disabled it was highlighted on the support page. The support page says not problems. But I keep getting this message saying they aren't. Yes, I kill the message in the ACP and it comes back after a day or two. I just closed it last night and will report when it reappears. I ran that phpinfo() on the support page as well, and it shows that those functions are disabled globally and locally. This is what you would expect since the support page says there are no problems.
-
Yes, of course. That's what I showed this. Here is the evidence. I repeated this for public_html/admin/ and got the same result, as you would expect. I showed that globally it's disabled and also used cPanel to set php.ini file with disable locally as well. So you would expect all subdirectories to have these values unless somehow there was a local .ini file in the Invision directories that reversed this. I am unsure how to repeat the test on all subdirectories from public_html. I suspect there might be thousands. In any case, the fact that I can go to the support page and it doesn't show a problem, but I keep getting messages from the system seems to indicate something is not working as expected. One would think that they would match. In this case, the functions are disabled globally and locally.

I am getting the Dangerous PHP Functions Message being queued up. However, I don't believe it is correct. I will document it below. Here is the message: Of course, opening it up it looks like this: But I disabled these functions globally and locally. I think it's a faulty message to the console. I recall that in the support window I used to get notified if these were not disabled and now I do not get a notification. I believe the notification was under the PHP box. Here I show that it's now empty: Here I ran the phpinfo command at the public_html root directory and show that it was disabled globally and locally: Possible explanations: (1) The message being sent to the inbox of the webmaster is in error. Note, I believe the error would be identified on the support page if these weren't disabled and there are no error messages in this location. (2) Somehow, there is a subdirectory that has re-enabled the disabled functions. I have no idea how that could have happened. Can you tell me what directory the test for disabled functions is run at for the message routine? Perhaps this is a different directory than the test run by the support page. I could try to run it backwards and see if phpinfo shows an enabled function.

Sweet. This helped me work through the issue. I agree, I no longer need to create a subdirectory and I am up and going. Thanks! I appreciate you helping me so quickly!!!

Yes, I have the pages application. I created a Home Page .... but when I set that as the default application it automatically selects that Articles menu item. I have tried deleting the Articles menu item in the menu designer and it just comes back once you select Pages as the default application. I don't like that menu behavior. This seems to be new for the Classic.

I want to have a landing page for the website. In a previous installation, I was able to land on a "Page" that I designated as a homepage and make Pages the default application. That doesn't work anymore as the Articles database comes up and it shows as the Articles menu location. So, the best solution I can come up with is to create my own homepage that introduces the website that users click on to start up the IPS instance (I will use forums as the default app). So, I moved the installation down a directory and changed the conf file to show the base URL in the new location. But the software failed. I did a clean reinstall at the new directory, and it wouldn't let me install it due to a license key problem. I was surprised that it distinguishes between directories. My installation domain (showing in the license key) is: https://www.scalewings.org Moving to a new directory, I want it to be: https://www.scalewings.org/swoc/ I would appreciate it if you could fix my license key for this. Can I use the old install (moved to new location) or should I use the fresh install? If so, do I new to start a new database? Thanks, Steve

Unable to Upgrade - Can't Find License Key
RocketSMS replied to RocketSMS's topic in Technical Problems
Hey Mark. I understand why it might seem like hard work. But I am in the software business. It would not be rocket science to keep a database of these needs so they can be known ahead of time for various configurations and consulted by your tools. Having an update process hang and have no way to exit, no advice on how to move forward, etc. is below the quality I expect from you guys. Having to manually close the page and being left in maintenance mode is painful. I used love your update process and showed it off to my colleagues at work. Now, not so much. Please ask the team to strive for better and return to the previous standard. Thanks. PS - I'm still a supporter and my comments are meant strictly as motivation to get it into the roadmap. -
Unable to Upgrade - Can't Find License Key
RocketSMS replied to RocketSMS's topic in Technical Problems
I had not many any changes to my website since the last upgrade. It has always been https, but all of a sudden it mattered with the license check. My only way out of a locked website was a full restore, which took about an hour. Then my next install after the https was added to the domain name with my license key it downloaded the files again, went into the system check. It stated that the recommend PHP was 8.x and it would let me proceed (I was 7.4), but I should upgrade soon (same message as the last couple of upgrades). But it was the only red mark and it wouldn’t let me proceed or discontinue the upgrade and I was locked in maintenance mode again. I did a full site restore again. I upgraded to PHP 8.1 and then the update proceeded without hiccups. One thought is that the systems check should be done before downloading files and there is a way to discontinue the upgrade. Currently there is only one button, “Continue.” If it’s not happy, clicking continue does nothing. Was there a “discontinue” button before? I could have sworn you could back out of an upgrade after the systems checks before. -

Unable to Upgrade - Can't Find License Key
RocketSMS replied to RocketSMS's topic in Technical Problems
It turned out the new process required me to have the website registered with https in the name. Still not happy that the upgrade process disables your website, then checks for incompatibilities, and if there are issues there seems to be no way to stop the upgrade and re-enable the website. -
I was unable to upgrade. This is the first time it came up with the message unable to find license key. So I went to IPS website client area, copied my license key, applied it. The same message see attached. The worst part is that it locked my upgrade with now way to back out and my website was shut down. So I had to do a restore. Attached is my end state.

HI Adriano: Works fine except for databases in pages for me. I have multiple databases that are the type you like (categories and articles) and it only recognizes the first one. Sure would be nice if a new tab appeared for my other 3 databases of this type. In the selection tab for databases in pages it doesn't allow me to select more than one category to follow. Otherwise it has been a big help. Thanks.

I wish that that it was possible to assign multiple categories to items. This includes photos uploaded to a gallery, pages database items, and file downloads. This would be similar to the way members can be parts of separate groups. What's the benefit of allowing assignment of material to multiple categories? I will use examples from my aviation related community. Gallery - Someone uploads a picture that is a beautiful aerial shot of his Grob motorglider. He'd like to have it listed in his album, Grob gallery, and aerial photography gallery. To do that now, he'd have to upload it 3 times. Pages & Files Database -- We have articles stored in a wiki format. Someone posts an article about slow flight. He'd like to have it listed in the safety and the training category. He could upload it twice, but if someone corrects one copy or adds material to it, they diverge. I think it would make the software more flexible and powerful. Thanks for building a great tool.
