Makes sense. Should also probably limit that functionality to admins only. e.g. you need to be an admin to delete pms presently, so it would make sense to only allow admins to delete pms through the changed feature set I'd imagine.

Interesting thoughts though. I get weary of adding too many "administrative" features to the front end. Lord forbid an XSS attack shows up and someone manages to take over an admin account on the front end without a password, that's bad enough. But if we add too many administrative features on the front end, the potential damage increases a lot.

Marking as spam will automatically unapprove all the user's recent posts. Perhaps we can add an option to also delete their posts and pms? Would basically take care of your concerns.

on my own profile, as user, if I approve a comment I cannot un-approve it after that anymore?
I must delete it if I do not want it public anymore?

    why?

I've always thought that the staff avatars make you all look like a bunch of robots. :P

And I think it's really confusing when you all have the same avatars, I mean I can't tell any of you apart until I read your avatars, and reading avatars is really boring. :P

:) so, one more ticket tonight. I thought you already have enough of them...
usually my number of tickets is 3-5. today just 2.

one more, if you say so.

and I hope they wont tell me that I cannot use it just in romanian or english, not both.
because I do wish both, that is the trouble. mine, at least.

an explanation here would be useful, for not opening hundreds with same subject each of us...

would be this the reason I could not translate these...

and this means cannot be translated

:( I JUST HATE to be forced to use English instead of my own language... >_<

I have no idea what you've been waiting for since 2.3.0. The ACP was not language-abstractable, but we made it so in 3.0. There was no native RTL support, and we've added it for 3.0 out of the box, and have slowly been improving it in IE7 (the only browser that has issues with our implementations). IPB never supported locale support before 3.0, allowing you to customize the date formats for your own language.

All of this is done for internationalization and language-independence, and then when 2 strings aren't translated you accuse us of not caring about our customers?

    Sigh.

The charset conversion libraries from IPB2 are the same ones that will be used for IPB3.

With IPB3 we are going to provide them as a separate download - practically none of our users have a need for them, and they consume something like 10MB of space, so we'll just offer them as a separate download for those who do need them. In the mean time, you can just use the folder from IPB2.

Unfortunately, this isn't logical or possible. To upgrade your forums we *have* to replace the files. Our technicians are inundated with requests as it is, and don't really have time to be picking apart individual directories to determine which files should we upload and which ones shouldn't we upload.

At the end of the day, as Charles said, we simply take the entire installation and upload it. When upgrade packs are available, we will use those as appropriate. I would agree with Charles that if you make a small note when you request an upgrade stating "please don't overwrite my custom favicon" the technician will surely see that and do his best not to do so. :) It's just a little thing to do on both our parts.

That is my understanding of their TOS at least. If you are unsure, you can always contact them.

At the end of the day...it's doubtful Google is going to use all their vast resources to come after a modification author for a bulletin board software. If we provided the functionality out of the box, that chance would be higher, assuming my understanding of their terms of service is accurate.

I suppose we could all stop working on IPB, Gallery, Blog, Downloads and CCS to fix some bugs on our own website? I mean, if that's the consensus that is.

bfarber got a reaction from Spiritwarrior in When will 3.0.2 be released?
Well, I suppose we COULD have held up the IPB 3.0 release for the relatively small minority of customers who use subscription manager. However, I think the majority of our customers are glad that 3.0 has been released, minus a feature that is being released separately.

Subscription manager is nearly done. MSSQL is in development. We simply decided to concentrate on the functionality that the majority of our customers need, and hold up ever so slightly the functionality that only a minority of the customers use (but takes a while to develop).

We can't really say anything else about it at this point, nor am I sure what you would like to be said. It's in development. It's almost done. The past is done with, and we can't go back in time to hold things up to include the subscription manager.

We will be providing more information on this soon. Our priorities have been with IPB and getting it fixed up and stable for as many customers as possible first. :)
