Next version will enhance the integration with Members Shop and will also allow the admin to monetize the site by selling invitations on Commerce:

That's brilliant Adriano!!!  You might consider creating a separate monitizable version of this product.  Such a version could be marketed to an entirely different group of IPS customers increasing overall sales.   Once folks really look at the capabilities of the Member Shop, the Commerce addon and your app (with "just" the new features you will be adding in a couple of days) their imaginations will spark and multiple different use cases will come to mind.  Being open to further refinement could lead to entirely different ways of running communities, allowing some to remain open a few years longer or allowing new ones to launch and thrive.

  2. As more and more people become concerned with privacy and various government entities start enacting privacy policies around the topic we should append the goodreads and google books APIs to the Third Parties Section of the board's Privacy Policy "if" appropriate.

An acknowledgement (what information is being shared) via the two APIs and provide a link to the privacy policy.

  3. The link shown below probably should be updated to reflect the inclusion of both APIs in your program.

    API.JPG.11832a35b096dbfc0cc7d797a37b9c87.JPG

This product uses both goodreads and google books APIs.

The goodreads link currently goes to goodreads.com.  Shouldn't the goodreads link direct a member to the API page instead?

The same idea for the google books API:

  4. It would be nice to have the ability to toggle the "More" button off or on.

    more-buy.png.3c5ae520c8c3275e2fef82f36228eda9.png

If a forum owner wants to try to garner Amazon Affiliate commissions they will probably want to toggle the "More" button off.

The "More" button redirects to the goodreads.com website.  Anyone clicking on links to purchase a book on this site forgoes getting commissions from Amazon or any other stores. The website also shows whether or not the book is available at nearby libraries.  It is highly unlikely a member will backtrack to the forum and purchase the book via the "Buy" button.

  5. It's great to have the ability to start a topic about a particular book but there are times when it would be great to be able to reference a particular book in a forum conversation.

For example if a forum poster wrote the following sentence below and embedded a book title "Battle of Hastings".

    toolbar.thumb.jpg.717b6f63d007917bc10c93d49f36dea4.jpg

Forum poster clicks on the "new" book icon in the toolbar as shown above.  A book choosing dialog box appears.  After appropriate book is chosen the dialog box disappears and the book title with underlying link gets added where the cursor lies and the forum poster continues writing.

In Battle of Hastings, the author states on page 22, "This battle is the most defining event in English History".  Anyone reading the forum posting later hovers their mouse pointer over the book title and a popup dialog box appears with more information about the book.

    screen.thumb.jpg.be72383ff5357d72c304d6c7937dc2bb.jpg

When done reviewing the book they exit the dialog box and return back to the forum posting.

The reader can better determine how reliable the quoted text is based on reader reviews on Amazon.  It also can expose the membership to additional books on a particular subject matter being discussed without having to create an entirely new ThreadStarter: Books created topic.  Doing so may end up fragmenting the conversation and the topic ends up dying prematurely.

This idea is inspired by Wikimedia.

The more book links to Amazon the more chances a member will buy a book or other merchandise which will earn the website additional affiliate commisions.

  6. Just about every club owner out there could readily think up a slew of great Page ideas to benefit their club members but only a handful of them will have the technical know how to implement them.

Actual adoption of more than one or two clubs with Pages will require a handful of knowledgeable people to create and support them.   Only the best ideas will actually end up being implemented into a Page as a consequence which isn't a bad thing.

In order for anyone outside of the administrators group to setup and administer Pages, an admin has to add them which most sites will shy away from doing.  Providing an admin the ability to grant access to only the Pages portion of the ACP to a select group of people would allow for more people to use the product.

With the inclusion of Pages within clubs and the ACP change highlighted above there will likely be more people using the product.  As a consequence, more and more collective know-how will become available to tap into making it easier and easier for someone new to the program to begin to master it's use.   As people begin to see all the great ways Pages get implemented throughout the IPS community and mastering its use isn't as daunting as it seems at first glance you will likely see increased sales of Pages and the suite it runs on top of.

The inclusion of a couple of more tutorials would go a long way towards helping people get past some of the initial pain points of mastering the basics.  Sometimes it takes a couple of examples of how to utilize a certain piece of functionality before getting that "ah ha" moment where it finally clicks in your mind.

  7. https://www.theaudiodb.com site is populated with content entered by volunteers.  Some content is very accurate and complete and some is missing entirely. If all the users add new content or update existing records on a continuous basis the repository will become more robust over time.

If a record does exist there may not be enough of the required data present to work with this app.  You will have to wait for someone else to jump in and continue to populate the record or take on the task for yourself.  The more popular the artist, album, or song the better the chance it will have been added to the site.

I give up in the position. I'll try next week. I'll update the file.

I'll take a look on this too. I'll PM you this week.

@Adriano Faria Could you please pencil in some time to address these issues.  Thanks...

  9. It is pretty easy to figure out how to add a new artist as shown below:

    image.png.b1bca9703c5985d157df13c0e742d45c.png

It isn't very apparent how to be able to choose their albums or singles if present.  Having to type a space and a dash (as shown below) probably won't be intuitive to some people.  Having some kind of visual cue could prove useful to folks.

    20180929_014116.thumb.jpg.88ed58d6dd2f8ae419e710555530b9ad.jpg

  10. Another thing I'm wondering is if you could figure out how to eliminate the suggested videos screen that appears at the end of each embedded video.  "If" there are to be any suggestions shown it should be for the next "random" video or the next track.  If a user clicks on one of the YouTube suggestions it will take them directly to YouTube.  We want to do everything in our power to keep our members "glued" to our sites.  Anytime a user gets redirected to some other site there is a big chance they won't return.

  11. Including "Tracks" is a nice addition to the app, unfortunately the space allotted to the YouTube player is too small.  As you can see below, the right side of the window isn't wide enough to see the "X" to disable the ad or to maximize the viewer to fill the entire screen.

    image.thumb.png.c4ca256aa71dd95764aba11bdcbb4186.png

It would be nice if the first track was chosen by default upon viewing page.  Then if you added two new buttons "Random" and "Next" the user could choose between viewing videos in random order or watching them in sequential order or advancing to a particular track.

You could follow through with the same idea on the Artist Page by including a "Next" button.  This would negate a user from having to refresh their browser to get the page to reload with a new random video.

  12. I really like a feature you included in your ThreadStarter: Movies app.  In that app you listed all of the movies that an actor starred in.  It would be nice if you listed all of the albums a recording artist has released as well.

One thing I was surprised to see missing in the About section for albums is the track listing.

  13. Great idea for an app, I liked it so much I purchased it.  It's nice that you have a demo site but it doesn't really help sell all of the ways it could be used to engage a community.  It would be cool if you invited some diehard music lovers to drop by and ask them to engage each other in conversations around various music artists, their albums or individual songs.  Their feedback will likely provide you insights into how your product might best evolve from and end user perspective and how best to setup the forums and utilize the app to best engage everyone.  If this app could somehow be used to help sell music and concerts (think affiliate marketing) that would increase this products value to perspective customers.

  14. The site is now running 4.3.6 and fully setup with all of the social media logins ready for testing the new release

Added new setting to require an invitation code for accounts created via Social Media

and to troubleshoot your newly added code mentioned above.

You better disable it for now. I don’t have how to test it as I don’t use social media on my board. It was a request from another user who said it was ok. I don’t even tested it.

Your best bet for now is disable this new feature. It will be fixed or removed as soon as I get a reply.

Hello @Adriano Faria I reinstalled my forum software today and  setup and verified that I could login via LInkedIn, Twitter, Microsoft, Google and Facebook.  I then installed your app and was able to create an regular account utilizing an Invitation Code but I can't seem to get your app to work when using social media accounts as mentioned above.  As you don't have social media setup on your board to test I encourage you to logon to my board and test out your app.  Login credentials have been mailed to your inbox here.  If I don't have something setup correctly in my ACP to allow for your app to work as expected please make the appropriate change and let me know.  If the site is okay, please make the appropriate changes to your software and feel free to test it out on the site.

  16. I tested the above scenario with the Microsoft Login and see the same results.  If I setup an account without using a Social Media Login the app works as expected.  Please provide guidance on how to setup the app to work with Social Media Logins (LinkedIn and Microsoft) as it doesn't seem to work for me

  17. It appears that the Invite System ignores the requirement to utilize the “Invitation Code” when creating an account via LinkedIn.  As shown below I left all of the “required” Sign Up fields blank.

    image.thumb.png.adc9c4f93301526a1d593622cebeb971.png

If a person clicks on the “Sign in with LinkedIn” as shown above they will be directed to the following screen:

    image.png.c660ca026c60e8342c6bf4bff3c9203e.png

Upon clicking on “Sign In” button the web browser redirects to the forum with the member showing up as a new member Signed in via LinkedIn.

Here is a screenshot of the setting showing that the “Require an invitation to register an account via Social Media” has been enabled.

    image.png.832bab711f67f5ddeb11a655efa845a6.png

I went ahead and tried again with an “Invitation Code” as shown below:

    image.thumb.png.d4e173d9530709615eed21fabfd2f17c.png

Upon clicking on “Sign In” button the web browser redirects to the forum with the member showing up as a new member Signed in via LinkedIn.

When I verify the Invitation Code I find that the app does not show that the code had been claimed.
