  1. We can't respond, unfortunately. Discussing web hosts other than IPS Hosting on IPS' own forums is not allowed. Remove the mention of the host you're considering, and it should be OK though as you're really asking if it'll work on distributed computing hosts. The answer to that is that it should work fine, so long as files are correctly available to all nodes (cache, avatars, etc)
  2. True, but your specific statement was that they aren't in the business of general hosting, which they are. I won't comment on their actual plans in public areas of their own forums - you can probably gauge what I think of them.
  3. Actually, only community hosting packages have a license (and no website space). The web hosting packages have no license. Actually, they are in the business of general hosting.
  4. I (and IPS) disagree with your assessment.
  5. <link rel="canonical" href=" /> That's been there since 3.0.0.
  6. I wouldn't get too hung up on the number of queries - in most instances the server will use the cached execution plan and run them like lightning anyway. You should be more worried about whether said queries use any constructs that invalidate cached execution plans, or whether they join or query any table by a non-indexed column.
  7. What language? In PHP, that would be: 2001-<?php date("Y"); ?> Not sure in Perl/CGI
  8. It's funny, actually. The first link hasn't been valid since 2005, and the second hasn't been valid since 2007. The only thing that multimod is missing is a link to the old site with .cgi scripts.
  9. Hah. I just found out that some crazies do it anyway. There's clearly demand still - even with massive corporates ;) 3DKiwi, {parse block} works in the IPB skin templates too?!? Huh. Must try that.
  10. I just noticed actually on Vodafone NZ's forum that the hook title is "Lastest Discussions" - seems misspelled ;) (Also, "<if test="is_array( Array ) && count( Array )">" appears in the source.
  11. XE charges too much for access to their data, and Google cannot help with this requirement.
  12. Well, you can manually link in images (the help files are raw HTML - no BBcode here!) if you upload them elsewhere, but it would be kind of handy to have some sort of "global asset system" that would contain images and attachments you could dump in help files. Just a note for both of you, you aren't allowed to ask support questions in this particular forum - if you ask one, you won't get an answer. This is for suggestions. That said, your support question actually makes a pretty good suggestion.
  13. Really? We tend to find that "enterprise" means "buggy, unsupported bloatware that has a 50/50 chance of working, and should not be used for mission critical operations".
  14. It appears that WHMCS is gateway dependent there- i.e. if you select an alternate currency the gateway must support it, and handles it however it handles it (for some gateways, that's by not supporting it at all).
  15. There are, but not many for free. If you wanted to do it for free, you could include a link saying something like "To see an estimate of what this will cost in your own currency, click here" and link to a Google search for "xxxUSD in GBP". There's some other sites you can do that with as well. (While writing this, I stumbled across http://www.webservicex.net/ws/WSDetails.aspx?CATID=2&WSID=10 - it appears to be free, or rather there's no way to pay them, but requires you have SOAP on your server. Perhaps cache the rates once a day and use them on the site?)
  16. Well, there's already plugins for software like Kayako to plug it into IPB. It also can't hurt to showcase that your existing stuff works with IPB.
  17. Hmm. Doesn't appear to work "You do not have access to this chat room". I'm guessing someone tested ban. How droll.
  18. I think it'd be useful if, in the Resources, we had a downloads category for modifications to third party software to integrate with IP.Board (such as login modules for other apps to connect them to IPB)
  19. Just you? I just got a parse error in initdata.php on this site. I think that takes the cake.
  20. Nope, it couldn't be. That time is the page generation time from PHP, not the time to render. But as Matt said, backups.
  21. That's a pretty massive wait time there...
  22. They tried it once before, and axed it shortly after. I can't imagine them doing it again.
  23. Sort of like Out of Office messages, this could be kind of handy. I could see it being used by [url=" of busy forums to indicate the correct way to contact the organisation, or just letting people know you're on holiday when you vanish for a bit.
  24. Couldn't you make use of the caching engine to update this data on intervals rather than immediately? And there's no need to ship with the software, that's why this exists: http://community.invisionpower.com/index.php?app=ccs
  25. I think they've really got this type of request covered with the free installation of the software. If you aren't comfortable doing it, they will. It is a pity that they'll only upgrade one minor version for you (so they'll install 3.0 and 3.1, but not 3.0 and 3.0.4) but it does make sense. Security fixes are generally very easy to install though, and other revision versions (3.0.3, 3.0.4) generally don't have major sweeping changes that they absolutely have to be installed.
