Luuuk reacted to Sheffielder in Home Page with basic information
I think that's just your personal preference for your personal website.
It would have zero benefits for me, and would put my users off.
My users prefer to go straight into the forums to read the latest posts.
Any new users end up the same place and immediately get to grips with the site

Luuuk reacted to Rhett in Changing the default font size
This is actually built into almost all browsers by default, CMD + on mac and ALT + on windows, it retains memory based on the site as well, so you can have your users adjust this as needed for their sites they use.
Mac - Cmd' + '+' (plus) to zoom in
Win - Ctrl' + '+' (plus) to zoom in
You can manually edit the theme, however there would be many areas to edit as there is different text size in many places.

Luuuk reacted to Hexsplosions in Ignore Improvements
Instead of debating whether the 'ignore' function works properly, just provide feedback on what you want to be able to do. You do not need to give it a name, you simply need to state your use case(s).
There may be problems with creating a true "block" feature for community software like IPS. If you check blocking capabilities on sites where it already exists (I'm specifically thinking about social media) it serves as more of a privacy tool. It prevents others from being able to see your profile content, send you messages or view your posts. That's fine in a system where your content is entirely your own and the only impact is one less viewer of your content, but in community software like IPS this could create problems:
There will be apparent gaps in conversations to users that have been blocked, for example: Blocked Person 1: Does anybody know how to install this program? Person 2: Yes, you install it by double clicking on it. Person 1: But then I get a warning about it being suspicious. Person 2: That's OK, you just need to add it as an exception. Person 1: Thanks Unblocked Person 1: Does anybody know how to install this program? Person 2: Yes, you install it by double clicking on it. Person 1: But then I get a warning about it being suspicious. Person 2: That's OK, you just need to add it as an exception. Person 3: No, don't do that! It's actually infected and a new version needs to be uploaded! Delete it and run a virus scan. Person 1: Thank There will be useful topics that might not be seen: Blocked How to install this program. How to open the program. How to uninstall the program. Unblocked Warning: current version infected - uninstall it and run a virus scan. How to install this program. How to open the program. How to uninstall the program. These are of course just examples I can think of, but I imagine there'd be gaps all over the place.

Luuuk reacted to jair101 in Wish Custom Emoji Listed First Instead Of Last
I want to highlight that there are use cases when the default emojis should be on the top 😉 On my community, I prefer the old and outdated custom emojis at the bottom. This way people will slowly convert to the newer ones without me having to deal with the drama that unfolds when you disable the old emojis. Putting the old ones on top will be like there are no newer ones at all 🙂
In a nutshell: we need an option to organize the categories as we perfer.

Luuuk reacted to 13. in Preview button
It was discussed a lot when "preview" button was removed from IPS at all in 4.0.x and we all asked to bring it back. Two main points is:
While editor is called "WYSIWYG", it's actually not, in a lot of cases. Ability to quickly check how the message will look on different devices is useful. -
Luuuk reacted to Matt in Invision Stories
There's a few barriers here.
The technical: to allow 'stories' to be posted, you'll need a fair bit of storage for the videos, you'll also need a queued system to take in raw video and transcribe it into a more friendly and compressed format which is beyond the reach for most self-hosted sites.
The strategic. No one comes here to see what I'm up to. They come here for help with their Invision Communities, or they come here to post advice for others, or to learn how to manage their communities.
Forums are discussion led platforms. The discussion is the star.
Social media are people led platforms. The person is the star.
Allowing random members to upload stories about what they're doing and so on cross-circuits the purpose of a discussion led platform.
Social media is great at being social medial. Forums are great at being forums.

Luuuk reacted to opmows in Option to set a default Code syntax highlighting
It is annoying indeed.
For years I am asking for a Lisp code syntax highlighting and never got any replay of any kind, not even HOWTO info.

Luuuk got a reaction from Adriano Faria in Change Post Date
@Adriano Faria
I'm interested in purchasing this plugin. Currently I'm on 4.3.6, but soon I will upgrade to 4.4.1. Will the plugin be supported on 4.4?
