This chat bites. After uploading the files to the directories required, there is no option to install this in the ACP. There are no settings in ACP. And nowhere to enter in the chat key. This was just a waste of time.

When the final version is released, is it going to be free to those who have an active license to IPB?

I can host your friend's vB if you don't have too many users. Drop me a PM for details if interested.

I wouldn't be against adding a setting to report manager that if something is flagged x times it goes into mod queue. I wouldn't want it at 1 (some people could report something for no reason, or just because they dislike the member, or don't know what they are doing), but maybe 2 or 3 (admin-configurable is best option).

One of the few things I enjoy about Craigslist is the community "flagging" feature used there. (most either love it or hate it)

For example on IPB, permitted usergroups can "flag" a topic or post,
after X amount of flags the topic/post is automatically set into moderation que and report issued to all applicable mods.
An extra setting to control amount of flags issued per group, similar to rep system would be even better.

Doesn't seem to be a huge implementation, seems it would bolt nicely to the IPB moderation logic.

I have 2 mods that handle a relatively well behaved community of 11,000, but when a spammer gets on board, we usually recieve multiple reports before a mod can act.
a community moderation feature like above would be very effective in this scenario.

    comments?

    Thanks.

On my IP.Board set up, I was able to login and change my display name shortly after I logged in with FB. But the option is pretty hidden and should be part of the 'Facebook Connect Options" but instead had to be accessed on the regular name change section:

    http://community.invisionpower.com/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core&area=displayname

Only problem here in the Invison forum, you need your password to change your display name and if you logged in with FB, there is no password or one is assinged based on the FB session so you probably cannot retrive it. On my installation, it didn't ask me for a pass since I had just signed in but when I look at the option after I logged off and back on, it needs my pass. I can, of course, over ride this in the ACP but you definitely don't want to do that for everyone that registers. I posted about this a while back but never got an answer so I guess untl they revise the FB options, we are probably going to have to find work arounds..

As for sharing a post, that feature is already on the Blogs so it shouldn't be all that hard to add to the forums. but for the mean time you can use something like 'Add This' button and edit the posting template.

Vbulletin will resize image attachments to maximum dimensions specified in the admin. Whether attachments are displayed as thumbnails or full sized is also configurable. Of all the issues I had related to user dissatisfaction with the switch from VB to IPB, the biggest was related to these lack of options for image attachments in IPB. I am currently looking at moving a clients site to IPB but I don't think he's going to go for it without these options.

I think you will hear a lot of this from all our new Vbulletin refugees.

You can do virtually anything with IPB, with the right amount of knowledge/assistance.

For instance, if your banner rotation script is just a php script, you can easily do includes in our template system.

    {parse include="/home/site/public_html/myphpscript.php"}

That will include myphpscript.php and put it's output where you insert that tag into the skin template.

Dropdown menus - you can do that too with a little custom skin work. Look at our member dropdown at the top of the page - can easily replicate that to other areas.

So we cannot host this ourselves no matter what? Can't say I'm keen on that idea. Instead we'd have to rely on IPS servers/connectivity and bandwidth to be stable enough between IPS and for example Iceland, let alone for privacy issues.

For those with own high-end servers I hope you see the chance of explaining what this "special tuning" thing is so we can do this ourselves.
