  1. I know the 'app' issue has been beaten to a pulp and the ability to connect Invision Community to an app is fraught with technical challenges.  Perhaps there is a workaround for an online app?

    I was reading about the BuddyBopss app, a social plugin for Wordpress, and this Wordpress Oauth SSO, https://plugins.miniorange.com/invision-community-single-sign-on-wordpress-sso-oauth-openid-connect

    Important note: BuddyBoss is the successor to BuddyPress.

    Would it be possible to use Invision Community as your main base but with this SSO, and using a Wordpress installation as just a stepping stone, essentially create an app for the Invision users?

  2. I have searched the help guides, done Google searches, and scanned the support topics.  Was tagging a feature that was added in 4.2 but removed later on?  It doesn't show up now on the 4.7 demo.  The help guides state that tags can be used for all content.  Maybe that statement should be revised?

    Thanks

  3. Hi Claus,

    Thanks for the reply. I had submitted a support ticket to IPS and I asked something similar, about creating a new language pack and then uploading the modules. Their response was:

    04 March 2014 - 08:03 PM

    Hello,
    We do not recommend the importing of individual modules. A full language pack would be what you'd need to import.

    Individual language modules are applied to all installed languages, not just the original or the one you've configured as default.

    I recommend contacting the author of the language and letting them know if this issue.

    Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

    Regards,
    Keith C

    however, another support person gave this perspective:

    Hello,

    A 'full' pack should not overwrite any defaults it will sit alongside the others as the author should give it a locale of its own. Its generally only individual applications ie a pack such as public_calendar_language_pack.xml that can overwrite the default, they do not always but this depends on how the author "built" it. If they used a different locale it should not really overwrite it, however it is best practise to assume individual application xml's rather than a complete one may overwrite the default.

    It's really tough for me because in our English language pack, I have, over the course of several years, created a number of customized language strings that to me, better express the meaning instead of the default language string.

    It's really great to know you do have a full language pack as one file. If I can find a way to overcome the memory limit errors, I look forward to purchasing your file.

    Brian

  4. Hi Claus,

    That's great to hear. Is it a full language pack or a series of language modules? I need a language pack so that the English language pack will not be overwritten. I had problems when I uploaded three Italian language modules. I didn't know the modules would overwrite the English language pack. ... :((

    Also, I don't know if you have seen my support topic on the community board but I am having a terrible time uploading language packs in the ACP. I keep getting memory limit fatal errors.

    Do you have any experience with this issue? Apparently these memory issues plagued 3.3.4 and were remedied in 3.4.x

    Thanks,

    Brian

  5. Maybe this should be a topic for the Discovery Channel?

    If you don't have access to everyone's Mandrill accounts, how in the world do you install an IPB webhook in their Mandrill account?

    Is a webhook the "proper" way to get feedback from a Mandrill account? If so, what is the field under 'Sending Options' do:

    forward bounce notifications to this address

    ?

    So this isn't a support request per se ... more of a "that's amazing ... how do they do that??" whoa dude kind of question

  6. Is it working on 3.3.4 version ?

    Yes, it is working on 3.3.4 version. We had to make the manual file edits but they were easy.

    The added bonus is that we send our newsletters using Phplist through Mandrill. So the bounces that came back are also fed into our IP.Board. We had 3 hard bounces reported on Mandrill. We logged in to the board as the users, and sure enough, each one showed the popup that their email had been disabled.

    Seems to be working great.

  7. Hi -

    Pulling out an old topic - the links in this topic from 2009 are no longer valid. Brandon's link to the resources section just takes me to the Marketplace.

    I need to add some BBC codes so that the image caption I added to my article will open allow the link I added in the caption to open in a new tab or window of my browser. Right now, when I click on the link, the current article display is replaced with the destination of the clicked link.

    Thanks for any ideas you have.

    Brian

  8. You must change in 'globalTemplate'.

    Search :

    {parse variable="forumActive" default="" oncondition="IPS_APP_COMPONENT == 'forums'" value="active"}

    Add before :

    {parse variable="portalActive" default="" oncondition="IPS_APP_COMPONENT == 'portal'" value="active"}

    Then, search :

    <li id='nav_discussion' class='left {parse variable="forumActive"}'><a href='{parse url="act=idx" seotitle="false" base="public"}' title='{$this->lang->words['go_to_discussion']}'>{$this->lang->words['discussion']}</a></li>

    Add before :

    <li id='nav_portal' class='left {parse variable="portalActive"}'><a href='{parse url="app=portal" seotitle="false" base="public"}' title='{$this->lang->words['go_to_portal']}'>{$this->lang->words['portal']}</a></li>

    Edit the application public title to hide the original tab.

    Is this advice still current, in 3.14?

    Like the other poster on here, I find that my portal replicates the page title and the short title. However, in the other applications, I have my the application name then a dash then the board name.

    I would like to do the same thing on my portal. So in my ACP, I have gone to System Settings - IPS Apps - IPB Portal and changed the page title to zzxx

    So now, when I click on the app in the primary navigation, the page title reads "zzxx" as does the breadcrumb. However, in the Blogs app, the page title reads, for illustrative purposes and having followed the identical procedures, "yyww - board name"

    I would like the portal page title to mimic the page title format of the blog app so that it would read "zzxx - board name"

    Thank you for any ideas you have.

  9. Hi -

    Let us hope we do not meet in a dark alley. I uploaded each of your language packs and it overwrote all of my default english lanugage packs. It has taken me over 2 hours to restore the language and now I have to go in and recustomize all of the language settings I had before.

    I recognize that you did try to create a language pack but after searching here on the forum, apparently your language pack has caused unknown havoc across the IPB community.

    You should delete your language pack.

  10. Hi -

    Thanks for the translation packs but I have no idea what I am supposed to do. I am somewhat accomplished with IP Board so I'm no dummy. There are ten language packs here, all xml files. Okay good. But now, I can't upload each of these ten packs using the Language Manager? That is illogical.

    This page will contain an area where you can upload that file, simply select the file from your computer and press "Import" - the language pack will imported and that language will then be available on your community.

    Alright, so let's look at a different option: System -> Manage Applications & Modules: System | Forum | Members | Chat | Blog | Calendar | Portal

    Do I open each of these modules and upload all of your associated language pack files to each module? Okay, my work is nothing compared to the amount of work you have done but then what, does a rower from Barcelona who is using our IP Board, have to keep changing the language settings as he goes from Module to Module? No? Okay, but then shouldn't I follow some kind of file naming protocol?

    I am forever in your debt for all of your translation work but I truly have no idea how to use them.

    Thanks for any advice you can provide.

    Brian
