At this point, I have but one unfavorable issue with IP.Board 3.x...
The lack of proper lightbox usage on resized, hyper-linked images.

    I submit the following example:
    http://community.invisionpower.com/blog/2553/entry-3542-member-related-hooking/

Mind you, this is a blog entry. But, hyper-linked images act in the same way on the forums as well. (Too lazy to search for a post example too. :P )

For starters, at least in FireFox, the images are often not resized the first time I visit the page. I have to do a screen refresh in order for the images to be nicely resized and not full size (half hidden under the content blocks to the right). The real issue, however, is that once they are resized, clicking on them only expands them inline instead of launching them in lightbox. Given the fact that it happens on my forums as well as here I can only assume this is desired effect, for some reason, and not a bug.

Having them launch in lightbox like thumbnails and gallery images do (ex: ) would be much more desirable, IMO.

It's probably simple enough to take a look at the template bits and code this to work on my own. But, I'm putting it out there because I really can't see why this isn't a built-in feature.

    Thanks for listening. :)

Nobody speak about digg/pligg functionality but without them forums will die because pligg cms will take over forums (google answers use the same functionality):

I need some features like in pligg CMS (and digg):

1). to be able rate all posts, all messages and sort them immediately by rating -> it will be very usefull for news at the start page: messages with the bad rating must not appear at all, hiding posts is not a good tool at all.
For example in this topic we can not see most requered features for IPB, if we had rating system like in digg, The message/post with most requered features would appear at the beginning and we would not see posts without importance
2). see comments in blogs in the other 'new' way like here:
    http://ideabank.opendns.com/story.php?title=Block_adult_images_in_thumbnails_in_Google-#comments
because sometimes I what to reply on the previous comment and not on blog but I can't do that...

be able to see reputation and all other feature (country, age, ...) in the member list and sort member by reputation or other chosen feature

    more mouseovers
be able to change the font like in phpbb

If you are agree with me please vote this post up

When useing "ACP Restrictions", if a group doesn't have access to something I would like it for them not to be able to see the tab.

add: Would be nice for the ACP search to only return results that group can use.

Ideally, when users click on a link posted on a topic, the link should open in a new window and the following message would appear right before the redirect:

"We are taking you to the requested link... You are now leaving xxxx.com".

Perhaps it could be included as an optional setting in future IPB releases, just like in the Links System mod....

    How about...

For packages that are $0.00, skip the part where you select a payment method, otherwise, treat it exactly the same.

Be able to limit how many times/how often someone can purchase the same package. X times in Y period (X = 0 is unlimited, Y = 0 is infinite). Time would make sure that the person can't purchase the same package more than X times in the specified period. Should default to unlimited (which would make the time period ignored). Good when you want to limit a package to once a year or something and the package is only supposed to be good for a few months of usage.

A option to specifically allow a trial of a package (and how long that trial should last.

I would love you forever if you did this. I have one particular forum on my board that 90% of my users have no interest in, so I've excluded it from New Content, but typically the 10% are up in arms.

If we added a way for users to select which forums show up in the view new posts feed, would that be a sufficient solution? That's something that I think a lot more users would find useful, but should also address your primary concern?

Neil C reacted to devee in IPS Hosted Communities
    Hi!

This is the most devestated change Invision Power have made since the beginning of IPB3. First time I looked on the "Hosted Communities" I was speechless. All those limitations!

I've used the hosted feauture by IPS for a long time and I like it alot. Before the release of IPB3 I was planning to upgrade my existing site and had some more projects that I was going to launch. I was going to use the IP Hosted Communities for those but now it won't be possible.

I contacted the staff asking if my existing board was going to be affected by any change in their hosting plans. They told me that my board was going to remain the same, and I thank you for that!

I want to explain to you what would have happened to my existing board if I had to move to the new hosted plans. I'm going to go through each step.
My existing board uses the old Hosting: Basic Forum for $10/month. It's perfect for my site, some months I have to buy some extra bandwidth because my traffic is very dependent on what's happening.

This is what would have had happened if I had to change from the old Basic Forum for $10/month to the new Basic 10 for $10/month.

    Average Online Users
What?! My forum is depending on what's happening daily. Some days I have 5 users online, some extreme days I have 300. If I had this limitation it would be a very serious problem for us. We wouldn't be able to have such a limitation, impossible! Period!

    File Storage
    Change from 100MB to 50MB! A 50% change!! I have IP.board and IP.Blog, occupying 60MB. Change won't be possible!

    Maximum Posts
Change from unlimited to 10,000!!! What's going on IPS!! You can't be serious! When I go to a board, the first thing I'm looking for is how much posts the users have made. 10.000? I would probably close the page looking for another forum.
We have 150.000+ posts, does this mean I need to change to the Plus 35 for $29,99/month?! Now I pay $10/month and the change would be $29,99/month, 200% more expensive!!
And they suggest to delete the posts? This is irresponsible to do such thing to your lovely users! And as I mentioned before, many people chech the amount of posts on the board before registering!

In conclusion, if I want my existing board to be hosted by the new hosted plans by IPS, it would cost $29,99/month. And in some time we're going over 250,000+ posts and then I would have to pay $44,99/month for something I'm paying $10/month today! 350% more expensive!

This is just very sad to me and all the users. You make wonderful products and you have a great team but this is like a tumor that you have to take of. Your hosting plans was so healthy before!

    Thank you very much,
    devee

Neil C got a reaction from RObiN-HoOD in Excluding forums from View New Content results
I know there's an ACP setting to exclude particular forums from View New Content search results, but how about an option for end users to choose for themselves which forums they would like to see results from?

I have one forum on my board that is very "marmite". Some people love it, some hate it. If I exclude it via the ACP setting, the ones who love it will hate me.
