changing domain names on the same sever

I tried this before and it failed.

I believe I have to do three things

1- change the domain name here on my account

2- have the host point the new domain name to the site on the vps, and have the same DNS at the domain name host.

3- Change some preferences on my forum to the new domain name, not sure where that it is but should be able to find preferences.

Am I missing anything else?

ok. am trying to follow this. I have ADD so it is difficult for me

There seems to still be an installation of Invision Community at the URL on file. Before you can change the URL, you must first remove the existing installation.

Just make it inaccessible for two minutes.  For example, password protect the site or just rename index.php long enough for the check.

You have to ensure theree is no redirection to that URL. If you are having problems, drop me a PM with the old and new location. Im sure we can sort it for you

The issue on your site is that your server is redirecting it elsewhere, and you have no SSL certificate in place for that location. You need to contact your hosting company on these issues.
