David N. Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 One of my members just reported getting 403 errors when accessing the site. How can I resolve this? Thanks!
Jim M Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 What is the member doing when encountering it? This typically happens when someone encounters a bunch of errors or makes too many requests in a certain amount of time. However, more info is needed to tell what is happening
David N. Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 All I've been able to gather is that that member is using a VPN. Maybe that's the issue?
Randy Calvert Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 It's absolutely possible. If someone else on the same VPN is attacking a CiC site, the IPS firewall would block the IP address. Does the action still happen if they temporarily turn the VPN off?
Marc Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Its very likely, if they are using a free one especially, that this is the cause.
David N. Posted January 27, 2023 Author Posted January 27, 2023 Ok thanks. It's very difficult to get information from members like that (I've just asked if the 403 were now resolved but he hasn't responded), but I'm going to assume that that was most likely the issue.
Marc Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 I can imagine so. I have seen that in the past myself. No problem, please let us know. Our advise however would be for them not to be using a public vpn David N. 1
