David N.
When I post a link to another topic in a post on my own forum, it creates a nice embed box visual, except that for one specific topic it no longer does, it just pastes the link as text (it used to work fine though). Jim M
Could you please provide the link in question here? We can then examine to see if this is a parsing error or maybe something wrong with the link itself. If it is the latter of the two scenarios above, we will be asking how you obtained the URL so if you want to provide that upfront as well, that would help us out track this down 🙂 . Thanks! David N.
Thank you! Interesting: if I visit the page and copy/paste the URL from the browser URL field to a post, that works. If I copy/paste the URL from my "Notes" app on my Mac, that does not work. Here's an example of that: https://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/topic/142036-new-forum-support-sign-in-posting-replying-searching/#comment-823832
opentype
This post was recognized by Jim M! "Always on point. Thanks, opentype!" opentype was awarded the badge 'Superstar' and 1 points. It means you are posting a rich text snipped, not an URL. I would suggest to use this setting (Editor settings):

I would suggest to use this setting (Editor settings): As mentioned above, there may be some rich text around what you are pasting so the parser is not interpreting it as an URL. Setting the editor to paste as plain text will resolve this particular issue or ensuring that you are pasting your URL in plain text when doing this. (Generally, on Windows this is ctrl+shift+v or some browsers like Chrome give you the option when right clicking)
GazzaGarratt
Quick question related to this thread if I may....do links embed as part of the core now? Just wanted to check to understand if this makes this plugin I'm using no longer required? Obviously i'd rather switch off if it means I don't need it to have it anymore. Jim M
Internal links to your community will embed. External links will not embed. GazzaGarratt
Marc
Just to add, this does depend on the external link. Some will indeed embed. Items that have oembed will embed automatically, such as youtube links, twitter links etc. So it does depend on what exactly you are pasting.
