Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
kmk Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Hello, is possible copy a category of a Page database to other ips installation? I have some records in my test installation, but I need copy them to the production installation.
opentype Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 No. Records can’t be exported at this time. Just the structure of a database.

bfarber Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 You can copy a database, but not the records within it. In order to do that, you'll need to do something custom, or an Invision -> Invision conversion instead.
Maxxius Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 That's actually a weird imposed limitation. Why prevent that? If you think staff might steal articles by exporting them from a website just make a administrator restriction setting so only authorized people have access to that option. I ran into a problem myself with this but it wasn't worth the hassle since my database had only 100 entries, so I just sat down and copy it all 1 by 1 into another database manually.
opentype Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Pretty sure it’s not deliberately “prevented”. It just hasn’t been built yet.
bfarber Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Yes, the intention was for this to be used for a staging -> production type model where you might build out a database and custom templates on a test installation, and then want to install that on a production installation. 99% of the time in this scenario, you don't want to bring across the content, just the setup/structure.
