Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Fleiding Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Was the SQL Toolbox removed from the ACP for cloud users in 4.4? Can't find it anymore unfortunately.
AndyF Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Do not (currently) have access to a CiC site. I was not aware it was there anyway in previous versions although it would make sense to leave it. Does a search not find it then ? The end part of the URL after the session data string should (I think, going from memory here sorry!) look like &app=core&module=support&controller=sql
Black Tiger Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 On the self-hosted it's still there. In 4.3.6 I could find it with the search option. In 4.4 this was not the case. They might have hidden it in 4.4 to prevent inexperienced users to mess up the database by accident.
Rhett Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 There shouldn't' be any need to mess with mysql directly in our cloud, if you do, we're doing something wrong, so please submit a support ticket and we can assist you or show you a proper method to do what may be needed. Part of the concept of our cloud offering is allowing you to focus on your community, leaving the infrastructure to us.

I understand and I enjoy and appreciate not having to worry about server issues and things like that for this website. I just needed to clear a table for a Marketplace Application after doing some testing, and this was only possible with a query.

I'll have to guess its search / links were removed as likely no longer required... In regard to the topic in general: There are a few instances where a manual query is needed though, although I do mostly agree with what Rhett says generally. No need for me to post any specific examples though unless required. :) post table is a good one here actually. I can see why its not there for easy access as although it does offer some protection it would not be difficult for an 'accident' to happen!
Black Tiger Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 There shouldn't' be any need to mess with mysql directly in our cloud, I gave you a "sad" response. Reason: You editted away the place where it could be found and I don't think that's neither nice nore fair. Not fair because as a paying customer I feel I have the right to know where I can find things if needed. And normally forums are a good place to help finding things and tricks. Ofcourse I do understand and appreciate that people in cloud hosting are helped by you and don't need to worry about this, which is fine, you removed it from the ACP search, fine by me. But a lot of us, including myself, are self-hosted and as we don't especially need easy access by search in the ACP, it would be nice to know where exactly it is if needed since it's not in the ACP options mentioned otherwise either. Otherwise we will go to phpmyadmin anyway, which is an unneeded workaround. On the forums you have an easy way to find where it is -and- read the reasons to be carefull with it in the same post. Hence I don't appreciate removing the correct place where to find it. Luckily I wrote it down because I already expected this kind of behaviour.

This topic is specifically for Community in the Cloud, not self-hosted licenses (like you have).
Black Tiger Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 This topic is specifically for Community in the Cloud, not self-hosted licenses (like you have). ??? I see "Peer to peer technical support" and topic title "sql box", I don't see "limited to clould" or something kindlike anywhere. So why should this be a special Cloud topic? Only because the TS has a cloud license? Are you really saying somebody with self-hosted should open a separate thread for the exact same question? Which has the exact same solution? You got me confused now.
Stuart Silvester Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 The SQL Toolbox is still linked in the exact same place on self-hosted installs (AdminCP > Support), we've removed it on our cloud platform. (The original post and follow-up comments mention 'CiC' and 'Cloud users'). Likewise with the above comment about removing data from a table, we wouldn't really advise that either. Invision Community is a relational system, it's quite likely that there's going to be related data in other tables that will get missed and cause issues in the future (you can guess who get the request for help when that happens!).
Black Tiger Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Quote The SQL Toolbox is still linked in the exact same place on self-hosted installs ( AdminCP > Support), I can't find any link in either 4.3.6 or 4.4 to the SQL toolbox under Support. Can post you a screenshot of both if you want. In 4.3.6 I can find it via the search function. Edit: Sorry, you're correct ofcourse. It's indeed there, below the used versions on the right side. Quote (you can guess who get the request for help when that happens!). Ofcourse, hence my understanding that it was removed from the search option and made less visible. 😉

Maybe a little offtopic, but can I submit a support ticket in case I need to run a query for a Marketplace App?
