This will drive me nuts if I have to confirm every time I mark a forum as read from the index. Please tell me someone found a way to turn that off.

Do you have a confirmation on your desktop? We have implemented this only for the responsive style, to avoid that people mark accidentally a forum as read.

Just to be sure, are you talking about the icon?

 

I've been marking forums on the desktop version (click icon) and I haven't seen a message. It's pretty much instant when I mark the forum.

Tested here on this site, I get no message on Win10, using FF.

I've tested both on the list view and the grid view and it happens on both:

@Morrigan do you use a touch device by any chance?

My computer has the ability to be a touch device however it's not enabled. @Daniel F

Do you want me to report this as a bug?

If it's capable of touch, then you will see the prompt. That's just how the JS detection works at this time, there's no easy way to determine whether your input is via mouse or touch.
