PedroNL
It would nice to have this functionality where if someone logs in from one country that you can have restrictions so they can't be allowed to log in.
Tom S.
It seems even online, refugees don't get much love.

GeoIP can be complex to manage. Unless you have a regularly updated database, it will typically be approximate. GeoIP blocking or limitations are usually best managed on the server level. It's used more frequently for advertising and many packages have it, e.g. Google DFP, etc.
PedroNL
Here is something like you to include. Ref: http://dev.maxmind.com/geoip/legacy/install/country/ Ref: http://www.maketecheasier.com/ip-address-geolocation-lookups-linux/ Ref: http://freegeoip.net/ Ref: https://pleasefeedthegeek.wordpress.com/2012/05/09/geolocation-lookups-in-linux-ubuntu/ It is hard to believe that Tom was joking but good to know if that was the truth... I just would like for feature to be implemented because it would offer more security and less potential for hacks.

You get what you pay for with free geoIP, probably more useful for statistics and as a guide. Very popular are server level tools which also are updated and probably quicker and more efficient. Moreso, if you're concerned about preventing hacks and being exploited, the block would really need to be server level to be effective. I'd see such a software level implementation more useful as a registration tool for signups (which I think was a service under IPS 3) for preventing spam. That's about it. I think many would love to have options like this and also to include inserting subscription databases, e.g. the paid MaxMind database, but I don't know if this is near the top list of priorities for IPS core, perhaps sooner as an addon. PedroNL
As a addon would be fine... I would pay for that...
aia
@Peter Wilcox, could you explain in which cases it could be useful?
OctoDev
maxmind is awesome, i think it would be a awesome feature to include geo ip at all using maxmind's geo ip php module, for those who have this available.
