Setting Friendly URLs

Can anyone help me with two things please.

  1. Where is the setting to remove /index.php? from the URL?
  2. If you install the software at domain.com/forums/ and use the external index file, is it then possible to remove /forums/ from the URL?

Thanks

Thank you.

Do you have any ideas on the second question please?

If you use Pages, create your new homepage.
Follow these instructions

and your site will load as only domain.com.

Thanks I looked at that, but the last bit about loading as domain.com only doesn't seem to work unless I'm misunderstanding what it should do.

Of course you have to System - Applications - Pages-> "Set to default app"

and Pages - Your new homepage -> "Make default page for this folder"

Hi, thanks, yes that's fine but it only seems to work for the Pages app.  Everything else stays stubbornly ar domain.com/forums/gallery etc instead of domain.com/gallery.

That's exactly how it should work. If you install your community at domain.com/forums then that's your root and everything will be there. (And if you set Pages as your default app as set out above, then your forum becomes located at domain.com/forums/forums.) Matt's entry relates specifically to using Pages below the community root.

If you want all the apps to be at domain.com/app-name then you need to install your community at domain.com rather than domain.com/something-else.

Fair enough thanks. I thought that might be the case but was rather hoping that external index page could rewrite the URLs for all of the apps and not just Pages.  Be great if it could, although I've no idea if it is technically possible?

Anyway thanks both.
