translate onle specific application

hi everyone,

I have a problem with the translation, i want to translate a specific application only , please guide me how to do that ...

That's not possible to do...

How it should be done would be going to the Language, then clicking to the Translate button, once there you should go to Search and there should be present a Source option which nowadays is not present... if it was there you should choose the application (Forums, Downloads, System, Calendar) you would want to translate there

nowadays is not present

  • Does they planed to add this feature in the future ?
  • or the had this feature, and they removed it in this version ?

In v3.4.7 the translation system worked different, and it was possible to translate each application when you wanted independent of other applications...

They have improved a lot the translation system in this new v4 but they forgot to allow translating applications when you wanted and not altogether...

I don't know if they plan to arrange this... I hope!

I hope so !

If you download the translation you'll see there's a field with the app name with which the string is associated. You can later upload the new Language.xml as a newer version.

I don't really understand what you want to say...

Notepad translating?

Thanks! I think I will use this file so much, but it would have been better if I had found some days ago...

Whoops, bad advice from me above. You *don't* get the app name when you download the XML - it's held in the table core_sys_lang_words. SELECT * FROM 'core_sys_lang_words' WHERE 'word_app' = 'forums' etc is what you need to get just the relevant strings.

You can't separate them. The phrases in IPS4 are global, you can use them in the front and backend.
