revaboss
download from client area the 4.0.1 again and open it , click on folder "system" and upload the folder "Theme" in your site or upload again some folders like "system, admin, applications"i believe one of these options can fix your problem

Ocean West
btw I did upload new files. none of these files are modified by normal operation - user settings and customizations are stored in the database or cached in the datastore - i have already created a new datastore and a few minutes later the contents was populated with the cache stored in the database - however still getting error 500 trying to access ACP. revaboss
in my opinion ,to the future you must create a "TestInstall" site to try your changes before get them online
