surinp3 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I get this (when clicking the "Manage Duplicates"): Error: 1054 - Unknown column 'multiple_registration_attempts' in 'where clause' IP Address: xxx.xxx.xx.x - /forum/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=viewNewContent&search_app=forums&search_app_filters[forums][searchInKey]=&change=1&period=unread&userMode=&followedItemsOnly=0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- mySQL query error: SELECT * FROM ibf_members WHERE multiple_registration_attempts<>""
PrinceOfAbyss Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 In 3.0.2 I changed field multiple_registration_attempts to registration_attempts. If somewhere in the code multiple_registration_attempts is referenced for you, then that file was not replaced by the one in 3.0.2. Now, this query is used in duplicatesFraudRegistrationAlert hook, so I suppose that for some reason the hook was not rebuilt during the update process. Simply do a Reimport Applications Hooks in your ACP and it will correct it.
PrinceOfAbyss Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 @surinp3: Have you tried it yet? Did it work for you? If you still have problems, I'll gladly have a look on it for you. BTW, are you happy with the HUUUUUGE warning upon trying to perform any delete action? :D I remember you complained about the message in 3.0.0.

So I don´t know if I am happy, but I am sure it is clearer now for those who dare. :)
PPlanet Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I like the update. Just one question regarding the Postify function. Does it notify the members at the same time? The reason I ask is because I'm planning on using it in a slightly different way than probably intended, as we have an admin/mods subforum where I'd like the topics posted just for our information. If at the same time it notifies the members directing them to the topic, they won't find the topic as they can't access this subforum... So, if it notifies them, I'd rather not use Postify, but if it doesn't I'll use it, and while here I'll add my suggestion to make it this automatic. :) I cannot use Postify to post the topics in the open forum as my forum is too big for that and it just would be a tad odd to make that info public. Anyway, thanks for a great mod.
PrinceOfAbyss Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 No, it doesn't notify them. It only automatically subscribes to the topic the initiator of the process (the admin who presses the Postify All button). About the auto-notification, auto-postification... It's the second time this is requested (I can't recall who the first person was, but I suspect it was Blackwolfie  ). I thought about it a little and can't decide whether this should be relevant to the Duplicate registration action setting or not. First of all, I'll include two Yes/No settings: Auto notify and Auto postify. But if both/any is set to Yes, what cases should this be triggered for? I mean, OK, when a member registers. But this automatically means that the auto-action will happen when the Duplicate registration action setting is set to Register the account but immediately mark it as banned. But should it also be triggered even upon trying to register a new account that is prohibited? Then, however the notification/postification will mention the existing accounts, not the attempted one, as this will be interrupted anyway. And even in the first case when the member gets registered and banned, I don't know if there is a point in notifying a banned member. They won't be able to see the PM anyway... So, tell me your thoughts about all these. Edit: BTW, for 3.0.3 I decided to change the layout of the Duplicates Management and Exclusions Management a bit. Basically, I'll move the email of each member below the username (like it is with the registration date and last activity date). And I'll do this because currently it looks like crap for resolutions of 1366x768 with so many columns there.
PPlanet Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Thanks for the reply, as for your question I see that everyone will have different needs. Personally I wouldn't set Notify as auto (but if there's a switch on/off that's fine and I let others answer when would it suit them best).
AlexJ Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 It's not creating topics on my forum for dup accounts.. am I doing something wrong?
PrinceOfAbyss Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 Do you mean automatically? 3.0.2 is not programmed to do that automatically. I'm adding it to 3.0.3. Or, it doesn't create topics when you click on Postify button? Have you chosen a forum to post topics in?
AlexJ Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Sorry, i mean automatically.... Will wait for 3.0.3 :)
Tripp★ Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Doesn't work, and I kinda feel cheated out of $25.00 now. Fatal error: Call to a member function duplicatesLoadMovie() on a non-object in /home/SITE/public_html/hooks/duplicatesLoadMovie_e7560d072372c528693a87b6ae94094b.php on line 72 This error comes up on all pages and renders my site useless until I disable the application. I'm very unhappy.

I'm very unhappy. I took your money and got rich. So who cares if you have a problem now... I suppose this should be the answer to any question made with your attitude... But anyway... This error is related to loading the template bit that inserts the .swf into your pages. I guess something happened during the installation of the app, and the template bit wasn't added at all. Do a skin re-cache and hopefully it will get resolved. Alternatively, 1. Uninstall the app. 2. Re-upload ALL files. 3. Re-install the app. Last resort, give me ACP access and I'll do it for you! :)
Tripp★ Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Did you re-cache everything? Yes, unfortunately I did. First thing I tried. I took your money and got rich. So who cares if you have a problem now... I suppose this should be the answer to any question made with your attitude... But anyway... I have no idea what attitude you're referring to. I was stating opinion when I said I kinda felt cheated, which was more directed at how my forums (once again) borked something that should have been pretty sweet. (No insult to your app at all). Perhaps you mis-understood what I meant? Or perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly enough. (I often make this mistake) Either way; it wasn't intended to be accusing or anything like that, kinda feel insulted you publicly did this instead of professionally talking to me in a Private Message about it, but that's okay. ^_^ We all make mistakes? (I think that's the right wording...) Anyway down to business. Unfortunately I tried all this, I will for the sake of arguments (Metaphorical ones) try again just to be triple extra sure, and I will get back to you with a step by step of what I did. Back in about 5-10 minutes.
Tripp★ Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Okay back... I had a hunch turns out it was right. Login ACP Go to Manage Applications & Modules Clicked Install for Duplicate Members Logger Let it complete Go to Look & Feel > Template Tools Recached < ALL SKIN SETS > Waited until complete. Went to home page. = Error Message My Hunch: Login ACP Go to Manage Applications & Modules Clicked Install for Duplicate Members Logger Let it complete Go to Look & Feel > Template Tools Rebuild Master Data and ticked all the boxes then clicked rebuilt Waited until complete. Went back to Template Tools Recached < ALL SKIN SETS > Waited until complete. Went to home page. = SUCCESS! Seems I've fixed the problem, I just wish my forum would behave. xD Thanks for the assistance, and again I'm sorry that what was said was taken out of context, I hope that doesn't spoil future relations. After a couple of weeks of solid testing I will happily write a review for you and stick it on the download page. If I have anymore problems I will try and state the problems without the personal opinions, to save further confusion in the future. I do have a couple of suggestions if you're happy to take them? (In regards to the app) I have a "Bot" account on my forums that is the patsy (The Author) of automated messages on my forums. For the "Private Message Notifications" and the "Warning Topic Postification" would it be possible to have an option for setting the User ID of the sender/poster? If it already exists or already can be done could you please enlighten me as to how? Thanks! Is there anyway that it could try and determine the dupes from the family members? Or does it already do that? (EG. Compare IP vs UMC (Unique Machine Code) as well as the Email Address (Are they similar sort of thing?) and rate it based on a score of likelyness? It's just I don't feel right outright accusing members of being dupes when they might not be (And I realise I could change the wording of the templates thanks to your allowing of editing the template message) I also have two questions: My machine (I used one PC) seems to have two codes. To test this wasn't a bug or anything I asked a friend to login to EcchiDreams and he got noted by the system as one machine. Is there a reason why my machine would have two UMCs? I ask out of curiosity, not knowing how this system works. If two machines completely identical right down to the parts inside them (as many mass produced machines are) login would their UMC's be the same? What exactly does it calculate it on (Or can't answer for security/other reasons?) Again just completely curious. I think this mod/app is awesome! Do I "Kinda feel cheated" now? No. If anything from what I see right now $25 is a steal! It's a bargin! Awesome work! Promise this is the last time I edit this! xD Sorry for constantly editing. :D
PrinceOfAbyss Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 I'm glad you resolved it. I wonder what happened during the initial installation and the skin bit wasn't added, and what's more you had to rebuild the master skin data too. Do you have IN_DEV enabled by any chance? About the insult thing or not, it sounded like that to me. Maybe, because of another user that created a real mess in this topic two weeks ago, and now such posts make me nervous. :P I don't know. Your proposition is more than welcome. Actually, I've implemented something along those lines for 3.0.3: In 3.0.3 I've added the option to auto-notify/auto-postify groups of members when a new registration attempt is detected. So for those automatic cases where it's not an admin that triggers the notification/postification, a member-id has to be explicitly set as the author of the PM/topic. So, a new setting is added where you have to choose the author of those automatic actions only. The manual ones (through the appropriate buttons) are still made by the admin that presses the buttons. I could easily make the script to read that setting for the manual actions as well, if that's what most people would like.

No, it's set to 0 in my config file, so I assume that's disabled. Funny you asked that was one of my first thoughts. I have these problems (or similar) every time I install an app that edits templates it's quite frustrating to be honest. Not only that but I tend to find my IP.Board default and Mobile skins never get updated when I update the boards either. It's rather odd, really. My deepest sympathies are with you and I should have been more sensitive, I promise you that was not my intention and clearly I worded it wrong or didn't explain what I meant. For that I am truly sorry. Forgive me? xP Sorry for repeatedly editing my post above yours, I kinda added a lot more to it while you were replying... I thought Invision had an Ajax push thing that notified people who are posting of new posts and stuff? I wonder where that went?
PrinceOfAbyss Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 So guys, as I'm finishing 3.0.3, and would like to know that... Would you find it useful that the author setting for the auto notification/postification be also the author of the manual PMs/topics created when an admin clicks the Notify/Postify buttons?
simonb Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Hi, I have purchased this mod and it looks good. I want to allow registrations from multiple machines and would like to be able to view which users have multiple accounts from the ACP, how do I do this please. Thanks in advance.
simonb Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Think I've found it, Display Duplicates I guess :) Would there be a way to use a conventional cookie to detect those who use ipad etc?
simonb Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 On iPad putting the version number next to the graphs in the overview stops you from viewing the graphs fully or seeing the numbers. Display is not wide enough to show it all.
Feld0 Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 So guys, as I'm finishing 3.0.3, and would like to know that... Would you find it useful that the author setting for the auto notification/postification be also the author of the manual PMs/topics created when an admin clicks the Notify/Postify buttons? Personally, I'd rather have the ability to set a separate author for each type of notification. Just purchased this, by the way, and hope it will help us out with our dupe accounts problem! +1 for some kind of fallback for devices that don't support Flash Player.

Just purchased this, by the way, and hope it will help us out with our dupe accounts problem! +1 for some kind of fallback for devices that don't support Flash Player. This is getting asked more and more... But, I really can't decide what to do... I could easily add a normal cookie, boast that the app now is iDevices compatible, and even get more customers... But that would be deceiving. Even the most sophisticated cookie, the evercookie, that I was planning to embed in a future 3.1.0 release, depends on Flash to provide cross-browser detection. Here is an extract from its FAQ page: Does this work cross-browser? If a user gets cookied on one browser and switches to another browser,as long as they still have the Local Shared Object cookie (= Flash cookie), the cookie will reproduce in both browsers. So, Flash is more than just a requirement for this app to be meaningful. It's the fundamental "tool" that makes it work. Is there really a point to have this app if cross-browser detection can't be achieved? On iPad putting the version number next to the graphs in the overview stops you from viewing the graphs fully or seeing the numbers. Display is not wide enough to show it all. Can you please post a screenshot of that? Sorry, I don't have an iPad to test this, and basically the smallest resolution I've tested it is 1366x768.
