Guest Reystar Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 usually by editing it. sorry could not resist saying that   I'm terrible.. Lol, i obviously have no clue how to edit it like that :P
Dmacleo Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 same here, if I knew I would try to help. sorry :)
kdmshark Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I just Upgraded to 3.2.7 from 3.2.1 and now I can only use the shoutbox if i go to the shoutbox tab and write in the editior. But on any other page since i have the global hook enabled it does not send replies as a matter of fact none of the buttons work. This is also on the original IP Board skin so not 100% sure what could be causing this issue.
Michael Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Again, I have posted instructions for that issue here.
Dmacleo Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 could that be added to description in actual d/l area? thinking may save you some repeating the same thing over and over.
Michael Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 It's not a Shoutbox issue, the problem people are having is that IP.Board isn't updating the skins for people, or they're installing the app wrong.
kdmshark Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Sorry, I figured it was a Javascript error and i was able to figure it out later that night, ment to reply on here that i resolved the issue.
Rugger Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Michael, Is 1.2.7 simply restricting the ajax shout limit to a minimum of 30 seconds? I want it lower, and will revert to 1.2.6 if there has been nothing else beneficially added to 1.2.7!!! I know there is a resource issue, but that's something I'm willing to risk. I think it would have been better to simply add a note, that it's not recommended to go below 30 seconds, but still give people the option. Your thoughts? Cavey
Michael Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I've removed any versions lower than 1.2.7 from the Marketplace. You do need to be using 1.2.7, whether or not you're 'willing to risk' the higher resource usage is not the issue, the issue is that the higher resource usage that can come with this app has the potential to affect other sites on the same server, and then the blame for that can come back to me. If you just absolutely have to have a Shoutbox that refreshes faster than every 30 seconds, I'd suggest you hire a developer to create one for you; that's not going to be an option in this product any longer.
Rugger Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 WOW, not even for those of us with a VPS or dedicated server???
Michael Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Yes, I'm not supporting two separate versions of this product, one for those who are on shared hosting and another for those on dedicated/VPS. No software developers ever do that, they make products that are best for any potential clients.
Rugger Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 That's fine, don't sweat it! I was just asking
Guest Reystar Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Michael can you tell me how i can move the timestamp in the left? (in case you missed the previous posts)
Connor T Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Michael can you tell me how i can move the timestamp in the left? (in case you missed the previous posts) Hes far too busy to help you modifiy your shoutbox install. Go into the row_template for the shoutbox. Locate that timestamp code and move it to the front where the username div's are. It makes it look hella bad, but if you change the type of time display to purely ##-## instead of all that mumbo jumbo extra stuff, it could look nice.
Michael Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I don't like giving specific reskinning instructions because I'm not a skinner; I often can't make things look as nice as you might want. It is the skin_shoutbox -> shout_row skin template that you'd need to modify, and it's this bit in that template you'll want to move some place:({$d['s_date']})
Guest Reystar Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 It makes it look hella bad, but if you change the type of time display to purely ##-## instead of all that mumbo jumbo extra stuff, it could look nice. Does that look bad?
Dmacleo Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 looks nice to me but I have artistical talent of a rotten tomato
Connor T Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Looks great to me, nice edit. Though, I still perfer the old method :P
Guest Reystar Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Here's a great idea (request) for further versions! http://screencast.com/t/Stp8M318
Dmacleo Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 is stuff like that even feasible with this app, especially considering it needs to maintain a lighter resource usage?
Michael Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Yeah, that wouldn't be a big resource usage hit. The resource issues with this app come with the ajax refreshing of new shouts.
d4rkcry3r Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 After upgrade to 1.2.7, no response when click any buttons on shoutbox. Any idea?
