AndyF Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 It would be nice to have an option to re-order skins in the ACP , rather than have them displayed in the installation order. This would reflect the ordering in the drop-down box too (assuming this option is still there for 3.0 and not moved into the control panel or elsewhere) :) Adding up / down arrows (similar to what are used in the manage components section) to the skin management area. :)

AndyF Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I don't understand :) It was just a suggestion to add a skin ordering feature really, so that members would have skins shown in the skin selector (and hopefully the skin manager) in the admin's preferred order, rather than the order they were installed (skin_id) :)

Michael Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Agree with this completely. And also get rid of the -- things to indicate child skins, users don't care if a skin is a parent or a child.

Tinytimrob Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 +1 Also, I would like the option to show child skins regardless of whether the parent is hidden or not. On my forums, the parent is used as a base skin so that all the children inherit the changes. The classic IP Board skin is used as a parent, but my members felt it looks tacky, so I disabled it. Annoyingly, because it was the parent of the other skins, disabling it stopped them from selecting between all the other skins. A custom skin selection system had to be added to the navigation to counter this problem.

Morrigan Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 This would be awesome only because I am going to increase my skins, a lot when IPB3 comes out (I'm postponing because of IPB3 and I don't want to put the effort in until its out) and soon it will be mild CSS/banner changes and it would be nice that the new default skin was re-orderable. I'm going to suggest this in another thread I doubt it will get much support but it would be SOOOOOOO helpful on my site. :(. A way to be able to change the default skin without changing the child skins. By that I mean if you duplicate Parent/child skins a way to change to a new default skin without changing members child skins (if its a color thing or something.
teraßyte Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 +1 :) Actually I made a mod for that myself because there wasn't this feature built in :P
Black Prowler Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 I would also like to see skin ordering in a future version of IPB (preferably 3.0) Currently it really sucks having a PRO skin in the middle of the Standard IPB skins in the skin list. When you make changes to your Standard skins it can effect the PRO skin differently since some of the skin templates are coded differently. This is very frustrating. I currently have to keep the PRO skin as an independent skinset and not included under the Parent skins to keep unwanted changes from messing up the skin templates. But then I have to make changes to them seperately when applying changes to the skin templates. Such a drag!!!! If I could at least keep the PRO skin at the end of the Skin list it would alleviate some problems. I think I did read that IPB 3.0 will allow seperate skin lists in acp so one typ of skin set can be seperate from another(such as Standard versus PRO.) I am certainly looking forward to that if it is in fact true. But regardless I still want skin ordering within the ACP. I don't care if users have this option or not but I do definately feel that ADMINS should have this option! +1
