Hi. I come here to find out information about IPB products and click on "View new posts" to view new messages. I then have to pick my way through the posts about IPB and then the total garbage posts about everything from porn stars to music etc. In my opinion this makes this site look less than professional. If you insist on having an anything goes policy then could I suggest that in a future version you build in some function to prevent specific forum's posts from not appearing in the new posts list. People like me who want to only read about IPS products can then do so much more easily.

Have to you I wouldn't allow all these rubbish posts at my site. It surprises me that you do for a supposedly corporate site. Ironically you close down genuine questions asking for help and refer them to IPS Beyond or a support ticket but let posts go about porn stars.

My 2 cents and I doubt anything will change.

LOL - well I would suggest that if IPS wants to look more professional to prospective customers checking out the forums prior to purchasing then this should be on by default to block out the community chat forum.

"View New Posts" has always been one of the most underused features in IPB, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. One day when the feature is configurable from the UCP (instead of just the ACP as it is now) it will be truly useful.

Oh, and 3DKiwi, thanks for your smug opinions, but IPS gets along just fine in terms of professional marketing to prospective clients.

I don't ever recall seeing a post about porn stars on this forum. The IPS staff have always taken care of spam issues quickly.

If you want IPS-related posts, visit their respective forums and collapse the other community forums. After all, what you're essentially doing with view new posts is viewing the topics that have new posts in them. Just enter that forum and choose a topic that has the new post marker and click it - it will take you to the last post you have read.

Yes I could visit specific forums and look for new message markers. However that takes more time than I really want to spend hunting down new messages. At my site, IPS Beyond, Invisionize I find the quickest way to browse new posts is to click the view new messages link.

Hey I'm just telling you guys what one customer thinks. If you're happy having your forums full of junk then good for you.

I have to agree with several others...the View New Topics feature *IS* extremely valued and well used. Unfortunately, invision doesn't make is very powerful out of the box and hides it pretty well from most users...

It is something I wish were more powerful...sure, you can set the topics is sees, but it isn't really that powerful other than that. On other forum software, you can set up multiple versions of TODAYS ACTIVE...for instance, a full feed of everything, one for a specific group, one for others. Before I switched over years ago, I had a few loosely connected communities using the same forum. I would have just had them as completely seperate forums, but there was enough of the CORE group that overlapped that they felt it was tearing things apart. But you picked what groups you wanted to be a part of, and you could choose how you wanted your default TAT to be...especially because of the off-topic things that the original poster had posted.

So I'd love to see this area beefed up sometime...it is workable right now, but the software would be far better if this were a feature...

BTW -- Uberhost -- everytime I'm on this site, I see someone pointing out a deficiency with the forum and you are one of the first to jump in and tell people how wrong they are. Do you work for Invision? Trying to get a job there? Or just a groupie? Just curious.
