Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Jaggi Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 why does this always happen to me, i went to check out the new ips page and logged into the client area and low and behold ipb 2.2.0 is up (yes the final :P ). Exact same thing happened when i wanted the unencoded versions, just lucky i guess :P .
Brandon C Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 They'll announce it tomorrow as IPS is closed right now. :)
Richard Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 and yet still no anouncment :\It's on the homepage: http://www.invisionpower.com/
Rikki Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 and yet still no anouncment :\By releasing tonight and announcing tomorrow, we can lessen the rush of thousands of downloads, which means the whole experience will be better for everyone :)
Midnightmadness Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Ive allready upgraded o:) It was a breeze :)
.KX Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I'm hoping that whatever is causing this 500 Internal Server Error is easily fixable so I can upgrade. :(
Brian Garcia Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 My reaction when I saw the new website was "woah". Which is in fact very nice.
thatcoolguy Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Overload... no link to download... log in / log in / log in / infinite loops  OH MAN OH MAN, GIMME GIMME!!!! Like a little kid at Christmas I am.
Quillz Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Just upgraded my board! I really like the new installer system. It's simple and to-the-point. It took me about two minutes to upgrade from 2.1.7.
thatcoolguy Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Found the download and board updated. NICE!
Amy T Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 yep I saw it too now I have a lot of work to do.2 of my own sites, and 1 site that needs to be totally redone for a friend, and 2 other sties I work for that I will be making skins for.
Dark Phantom Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I actually find it sort of funny.I said several times "DO NOT WAIT TILL THE LAST MINUTE" to purchase one of the old ( now ) licenses. Look what happens, I have no idea when the site was updated ( perhaps on a planned automatic update ), but people are going to wake up in the morning and be shocked.I think I will invest in starting a company, where I predict the future, since I was right about the license. Although to be fair, I thought the "forums" would be closed and the website would be "down" while they did said update ( website, forum, client software, etc ).Anyways already updated both my websites
Debbie Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 People can't complain about the license change as everyone was given well over a month (close to 2 infact) to get their Perpetual License upgrades and new orders in before the new pricing structure came into force :)
Dannyarr Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 People can't complain about the license change as everyone was given well over a month (close to 2 infact) to get their Perpetual License upgrades and new orders in before the new pricing structure came into force :)Indeed, and I'm very thankful to IPS for that. Most companies would never do that.
shakerz Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 All right :D And the new website looks great too :)
Dark Phantom Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 People can't complain about the license change as everyone was given well over a month (close to 2 infact) to get their Perpetual License upgrades and new orders in before the new pricing structure came into force :)People will complain, because thats human nature, but I tried to help those people who said they would wait and warn them of what might happen.Just turned out to be true  I think in fact, I learned my own advice from an old IPS update ( I believe it was the IPB 2.0.0 release ) where it went paid after said update. I was then stuck with a unsupported version but free at the time version of IPB.Which is funny because this change is the exact reason why I bought IPB, although I waited for a sale, and while I wait I used what I had.
Cherrymenthol Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I upgraded from 2.2.0 RC3 (Yeah, naughty boy I am, my forum deserves to completely muck up for upgrading to an RC) and it went really well, the other forum software people have a LOT to improve on if they intend to beat IPB. You guys have hit the nail in the head :)
Starnox Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Good old IPS, checking their new website in major browsers like Safari :PNOT
Alex Duggan Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Works fine for me in Safari - only noticed one minor issue with it
Rikki Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Good old IPS, checking their new website in major browsers like Safari :PNOTThe issues with Safari are very minor and cosmetic. We didn't think it was necessary to hold up the new site in order to fix tiny issues that will affect 2% of browsers :)
Cherrymenthol Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 The only qualm I have at the moment is the fact that it's eating up around 40% of my hosts CPU, my forum has less than 150 members and no more than around 6,600 posts. Not too sure why that is, but my hosts board is experiencing the same kind of problem. Can anything be done about this?
