AtariAge Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 even still its still not that much of a deal  and you really think i wanna sit here reading threw 14 pages of people moaning  Fortunately Matt didn't agree with you and fixed it right away. :) ..Al
Anthony Kinson__ Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 well yeah, it was a problem that needed to be fixed, but i read threw first few pages and seen alot of people making a huge deal out of it.. just didnt see the point in the big "oh no this is unacceptable" speeches from people becuase hitting enter added one line more than it shoudl of done. each to there own tho, if that is determined as a major problem to some and they really think its worth kicking up a big fuss about thats there descion, and my bad for finding it amusing.
jackhammerslam Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Alright, I recently installed IPB 2.1.5 from 2.0. Now I can't login to the Admin CP. I get this error. Fatal error: Call to a member function clean_perm_string() on a non-object in /home/mow2199/public_html/phpbb2/sources/classes/class_session.php on line 617

Well, the big deal to me is that posting messages is the central activity of a forum and the entire reason they exist. This is the one area you WANT working flawlessly. Sadly, most of my users (and this is going to be true on just about every forum) use Internet Explorer, which is the browser that exhibited the problem. Users are going to see that the forum software is inserting extra line breaks into their posts and will just assume it's a problem with the forum. And then they would complain about it to me or start threads about it asking what's going on. Now if we could just get the invisible cursor issue fixed. :D ..Al

bfarber Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Though, of course, I find it important to note that IPB 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, and 2.1.3 behaved this way, and I saw no complaining in any of those release topics about the double line breaks. :rolleyes:Alright, I recently installed IPB 2.1.5 from 2.0. Now I can't login to the Admin CP. I get this error. Fatal error: Call to a member function clean_perm_string() on a non-object in /home/mow2199/public_html/phpbb2/sources/classes/class_session.php on line 617 Please submit a ticket. ;)

Anthony Kinson__ Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 also if anyone can help with this, i have upgraded from 2.1.3 to 2.1.5 but now when any one gets a new PM or when they click My Assistant. the ajax window pops up as normal and the appropiate content is dissplayed for a split second, it then redirects to http://MYSITE.com/forum/javascript; and the 404 page is dissplayed? had a look around in the edited files between 2.1.3 & 2.1.5 but i cant seem to find where the problem lies.. anyone able to help. i've posted on ips beyond forums and no one is replying.
bfarber Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Submit a ticket and I'll fix it. :) I believe I've worked on this for a separate ticket and found we needed to update the my assistant javascript file to draw the iframe behind the div pointing to the iframe.html file instead of javascript; At least this sounds like the same issue without being able to test and confirm.

Msb_last Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I have IPB 2.1.5 (downloaded few hours ago) and here is one big trouble ;/ Someone using exploit on my board :/ This exploit: http://www.milw0rm.com/exploits/1489 I locked COPAA registers but now this exploit slowing down my mySQL database //hard!// Forums is on DSL 2MBit/512kbit and it works so slow ;/ This exploit using that query: act=Reg&CODE=02&coppa_user=0&UserName=".$name."&PassWord=sedbotbeta&PassWord_Check=sedbotbeta&EmailAddress=".$name."\@host.com&EmailAddress_two=".$name."\@host.com&allow_admin_mail=1&allow_member_mail=1&day=11&month=11&year=1985&agree=1 How can I stop it ?!
bfarber Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 That's a DOS attack and there's nothing IPB (or any software script) could really do about it unfortunately. :( I would note, however, that in the header of the file you linked it DOES say this: Doesn't Work on forums using "Code Confirmation" Basically, they are sending a bunch of requests to register users in a short span of time in an attempt to shut down the server (or overload it's resources/bandwidth/etc). Do you have code confirmation enabled? Aside from that, this isn't really a support topic, and what you are posting is not feedback about the 2.1.5 release, so I'd have to ask you to submit a ticket. :)
Msb_last Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Do you have code confirmation enabled? Yes...And now it don't adding users, but it still 'killing' my database by queries ;/so I'd have to ask you to submit a ticket. Hmm...I will do that...maybe it can help me...
Dark Phantom Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 There are some bugs that need to be fixed before 2.2. The quote bug is especially insidious and hackers could bring down the site by exploiting that on a large enough scale. Anyway, how different will 2.2 be from 2.1. Will it be as different as 2.1 is from 2.0? To my knowlege 2.2 is not even in Alpha, its was to early to ask this question.
SjorsK Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 To my knowlege 2.2 is not even in Alpha, its was to early to ask this question. Look at the bottom: http://forums.invisionpower.com/convergede...unity/index.php :P
ryder Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Look at the bottom: http://forums.invisionpower.com/convergede...unity/index.php :P Thats not a true alpha of 2.2 though, its just 2.1 modified to work with converge.
Dark Phantom Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Look at the bottom: http://forums.invisionpower.com/convergede...unity/index.php :P If you read what bfarber said about that fact, you would understand why that was done. Its only being called 2.2.x because its not 2.1.x, but thats not important. Feel free to find the post where bfarber said something about the "version" of that board, I have better things to do then find it, because I know I am right. But I suppose consider Alpha versions are most of the time internal versions, you could call that an alpha version, not that it matters.
Sergei Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Hi all, I've encountered a following error while upgrading IPB 2.1.4 to 2.1.5 despite that all primary actions were done as required. Here's original text:IPS Driver Error There appears to be an error with the database. You can try to refresh the page by clicking here. Alex Duggan Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Please submit a ticket from your client area for assistance - this forum is for discussion about the release and not support I'm afraid.
Energizer Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 The hacker attacks have increased very much within the last months. I am worried for the IPB. Is my worry justifiable? :(
Dark Phantom Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 The hacker attacks have increased very much within the last months. I am worried for the IPB. Is my worry justifiable? :( I have not seen evidence of increased hacker attacks, of course that might have to do with the type of community you run and if you use the current version and don't wait. Many of the more recent "exploits" being posted on security sites is being done by a user who doesn't understand how IPB works. I know of at least two exploits that were reported by the same person and Matt himself said there was nothing to worry about.
GMDesignz Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 2.1.5 Works great for me, nothing wrong with it :) Installed very nicely.. but during the update I mistakenly Deleted the members MySQL and had to restart... no biggy but since then the board is sweet :)
