Invisionary Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I assume that this is an "official" fix that applies to all installations of 2.1.2!!! Which leads to the question.... how will small "fixes" like this be published to users by IPB? Cheers and thanks bfarber Good question. How many little "fixes" warrant a patch release? What about the thousands of IPS customers that make up the "non-forum visiting majority"? How will they get to see such a "fix"?
Chuckmeister Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Aren't the headlines in the News forum exported to the admincp in all forums. I'm still waiting on a few bug fixes before I upgrade from 2.0.0 but if thats the case there is no reason why any admin should miss any Important news :)
placebo333 Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Update went straight, there must be something wrong :P
iToke Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Skunkman, Matt did the Sigma Chat plugin. Submit a ticket and we'll look into it. Already did ;) Ticket: #208798 has been open and on going since 24th september  looks like we could be finaly on the home straight now though :)
dflorin Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 many thanks bfarber for your fix. it made my calendar show up. still, events are listed one day earlier. a fake modification on them seems to set them right, but ... doing it on all events? no way.
Logan Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I'm unable to download IPB right now, is it not working for anyone else? You click Download IPB 2.1.2 final here, it doesn't come up. If you click download other versions to be taken to the download center page, there are no downloads. ....?
Brandon C Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I'm unable to download IPB right now, is it not working for anyone else? You click Download IPB 2.1.2 final here, it doesn't come up. bfarber Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Hello, Events CAN show up a day earlier, depending upon your local time zone, and the time zone you used when submitting the event. Also, events prior to 2.1.2 were added to the database differently than they are now. If you submit a new event, does it show up properly, and what time zone offset do you have set for your member acct vs what time zone offset do you use when adding events? Take this example: You are in EST (-5) and you add an event for 10/31/2005 in GMT. Since EST is -5, technically the event occurs on 10/30 in your time zone. :) Re the fix: the code above will fix issues people are experiencing with the calendar. The main IPB package will be updated to include this fix, so users who don't visit the forum will be able to get the fix, and if anyone is experiencing problems with the calendar you can submit a ticket and I will ensure it gets resolved. However, for the other users who are able to apply the patch themselves, I did not see a reason to force them to wait any longer than necessary. The code above was merely for the benefit of those users who do visit, and are able to apply code changes manually. The technical support team has already been provided the fix for those users who submit a ticket requiring support with the calendar. I did not duplicate this issue in testing, nor did the QA team. With the many different configurations sometimes one user may catch an error that another user does not. :)
Management Matt Posted October 17, 2005 Management Posted October 17, 2005 The only real way to "fix" the problem of events showing up a day earlier is to allow the event starter to choose a time as well as a date. That's something that will be added in a later release.
PPXGames Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I havent installed a Arcade hack, And now when I go to it I get a database error.www.jabbaforum.com
Labonte18 Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I havent installed a Arcade hack, And now when I go to it I get a database error.www.jabbaforum.com You overwrote your conf_global.php file or deleted it or something. BTW - Nice job with FINALLY making the conf_global.php file named differently in the distribution packages. That's something that should have been done many moons ago. Haven't seen the URL issue mentioned here.. So who's having a problem when entering a URL using the "Link" button from the standard editor? You enter the URL and hit OK, then it dies with a jscript error.. Never asked about the name of the website.

=Charles Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 BTW - Nice job with FINALLY making the conf_global.php file named differently in the distribution packages. That's something that should have been done many moons ago. Agreed, and, if I recall correctly, the installer renames the file automtically. Great job.
FCB-Mo Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 unfortionatly, i am going to have to skip this version cos it seems to have lots of issues :(
Boult Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I have resolved my issue by uploading updated IPB pkg and I changed my ticket to resolved. Thanks bfarber for the fix!
RawkBob Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I just updated my forums, 2.1.1 to 2.1.2 with no problems at all!!! I've seen this posted before, but can't find it at all, does anyone have a list of the new features added in 2.1?
.Jack Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 unfortionatly, i am going to have to skip this version cos it seems to have lots of issues :( Don't be silly :P
Invisionary Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. I made a complete backup (source files and db), did a file compare to add my handful of minor mods, and went for it. Result? It all went surprisingly well. With the exception of one mod everything seems to be working correctly :)
murphzlaw1 Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 Haven't seen the URL issue mentioned here.. So who's having a problem when entering a URL using the "Link" button from the standard editor? You enter the URL and hit OK, then it dies with a jscript error.. Never asked about the name of the website. I, and a couple of my members have experienced this issue. Odd thing is, it only seems to be happening on certain computers. My work computer, it works fine. But at home...well.. that, and emoticons still jump to the end of a post. I DID have the calendar issue, but reuploaded the files and it's aces. Also had the chat issue (where admincp only shows "show in new window" and no other options.) Also fixed by reuploading files. I gots a ticket open for my other 2 issues. (224616) Just waiting patiently. :) hmm...more than you wanted to know, hmm?
iToke Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 Also had the chat issue (where admincp only shows "show in new window" and no other options.) Also fixed by reuploading files. which files did you re upload ? I've just reuploaded every sigma chat file and i've still got no chat controls showing in ACP
Invisionary Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 which mod was that? You mean the one that didn't work for me? It was a 'members online today' mod but I figured it out (I hadn't edited func_boardstats.php correctly) and all is good :)
murphzlaw1 Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 which files did you re upload ? I've just reuploaded every sigma chat file and i've still got no chat controls showing in ACP I did a full reupload..I overwrote everything...sadly, I can't tell you which one actually fixed the issue..
bfarber Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 FYI, the issue with the url is likely related to a custom skin issue. Language bits were further abstracted from the javascript files in 2.1.2 and js variables were defined to map to the language bits. If you are using a custom skin and the template was not updated, you would likely be getting a js error trying to use the url bbcode/RTE insert javascript. Testing on my local 2.1.2 board it works properly.
