Decrease user's post count when post is deleted (setting)
by Guest Logan- 12 replies
- 3.7k views
There really should be a setting "If the trash can isn't enabled, and a post is deleted do you want the user's post count to decrease?". So an automated feature to decrease the user's post count when their post is deleted and the trash can isn't enabled. Rather than running rebuild user post counts.

Easier smiley installer.
by Guest smor- 9 replies
- 2.8k views
My sugestion is to make installing smilies as easy as installing avatars. I have over 1000 smilies and it is hard and time consuming to install all ove them 3 at a time. I would like to just upload to the folder they are in and the system to auto name them what ever the file name is with out the extention and you can change it later in the admin cp.

Copy skin
by Guest smor- 3 replies
- 2.1k views
This is more for backing up then any thing. I always install 2 of the same skin and hide one that i name Original form members. I do this as i make a lot of skin edits but I was thinking i might be easier to have a skin copy so you do not have to install it twice. Or even better might be a way to just restore changes to the wrapper.

New features

Again, and again, I am a fans of IPB, cause it is easy to mod, nice template, and powerful. I hope that vBulletin can totally be defeated by IPB, so here is my little suggestion that vB have and IPB don have ( others than that, IPB is 100% better than vB, like the PM attachment !!! ) 1) change some template, make some auto dropdown menu. (more porffesional if it has ) - and must be 100% editable, like how to arrange those link... 2) and a small icon before the link of sub-forum, once there is a new posts, the icon will be blink (or something like that), if not, then it will be dull (or same thing like that) 3) Attachment control : each file typr has different file s…

Deleting forum mods
by Guest theclub- 5 replies
- 3.5k views
l have just had cause to delete four forum mods who modded 22 forums between them. What should have been an easy thing to do, took nearly twenty minutes! First, in 'Manage Forums' l have to click on 'Show All', because most of them are sub-forums, the page then refreshes. Then l have to click on 'Show Moderator Options', l then scroll down to find the forum and moderator, open the drop-down box, and click 'Remove'. The page then refreshes once more, and l have to start all over again, each one takes between 45 seconds and one minute. Can we not have an easier way to do this? Adding them is easy. :)

Can we have this feature that is similar to email? So we don't have to re-enter who we're CC'ing each time?

Please, oh please stop me from doing stupid things
by Guest Luke- 8 replies
- 3.2k views
Please, next time you come out with a release rename the component folders. components_public -> MainComponent components_ucp -> UserCP_Comp componen_acp -> AdminCP_Comp And, last but no least please rename the files something different. ____-main.php ____-ucp.php ____-acp.php Why would you want to do this? To keep people like me, who spend hours on end developing something, from overwriting their main component when uploading something like the userCP links. I just did that today, and I feel like crap. Please keep me from doing something stupid now, so I dont do something stupid later. Thankyou for listening! *walks away, slams head into wall …

Suggestion: Search engine friendly URL's
by Guest Space Goat- 7 replies
- 3.6k views
A useful feature for the next version of Invision Power Board would be the widespread implementation of search engine-friendly URL's, if a forum admin chooses to enable them. This would make popularizing forums a lot easier for forum admins. :)

Standardize the Language File formats
by Guest Michael- 11 replies
As a modder who always tries to put my on-screen text into language files, I am often told that my mod's instructions for the language file edits cannot be done because they can't find this code in their language files: <?php $lang = array ( 'blah' => "blah", Instead, their language files look like this at the top: <?php $lang['blah'] = "blah"; The first code above is the default file structure as IPB comes out-of-the-box. The second code is how some language packs will be formatted, and how the files will look if the languages are edited through the ACP or through the language API system. So my suggestion is to pick one of these formats or the o…

IPB 2.2+ [Add Update Functions To API]
by Guest Shawn Dean- 2 replies
- 2.2k views
Hey, I'd like to suggest that update functions be added to the Topic/Post API. Since there is currently only creation of new topics/posts as functions, there isn't any ability to update current topics/posts via the API. Dean

More comprehensive attachment permissions
by Guest ellawella- 0 replies
- 1.6k views
It would be nice to be able to control what file types certain user groups are able to upload. This would work well if you had a paid subscription group and you not only wanted this group to have more global space, but for members in that group to be able to upload file types which are generally larger (e.g. mp3). Specific attachment permissions on a forum by forum basis would also be nice. :)

"Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed"
by Guest ellawella- 4 replies
Users invariably have absolutely no idea what this error message means. For 2.2 or 3.0, it would be nice if it gave a better explanation of what is wrong (e.g. if it points out the exact portion of the URL which it has taken issue with). I know the error reporting system is being revamped for 3.0 so that would be a good opportunity to make this change.

Multi Topic At Once!
by Guest MasumX- 3 replies
- 2.2k views
I'll try my best to explain, what I'm trying to suggest!! This might be advanced but hey its an idea.. --------------Multi Topic--------------- Allow user to open more then one topic at once instead of having to go back to open another one. Something like this; You clicked on "New Topic" and there you can have something like "Open Another Topic" when they clicks to open another topic, minimize the current topic on bottom. After the minimze have option like "Edit, Delete" and a check box underneath each topic you open. So, user can edit, delete, and check the box to confirm which topic they wants to submit along with other topic they opened. Oh ya! It's just like …

Database Analysis Tool
by Guest Luke- 2 replies
- 1.9k views
This is basically an AdminCP tool that will list tables, with the IPB prefix only, that are not default tables of IPB or have been changed/modified (the structure doesnt match up exactly with the current version you're running). So under each default table if there was an extra column in the table that IPB wouldnt normally have (for that version) or a default column was different (different datatype or different length, or different default value, index, etc..) that table and column(s) would be listed. This would be a useful feature because if you have done any modifications you can easily track down changes to your database. Either as a reminder, or a helper to revert …

Edit Member in thread
by Guest Miss J.- 4 replies
- 2.1k views
My forum is not a technical one, and has very UNtechnical people on it. They can never seem to get their sigs (etc) right and it would be SOOOO much easier on me - the only one with admin access - if there were a link in the box under their name in threads, to where I could view and edit the code or whatever straight from the thread instead of- having to log into admin. having to go the the member's tab, then search, pick, edit... just to look and see if maybe they forgot a tag or something! Make it to where admins (and even mods!) can have the ability to do this right from within a thread! (Or at least by looking at their card.) Along the same lines, it'd be SUPER …

Nested if/else in skin templates
by Guest ellawella- 3 replies
- 2.3k views
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe the skin templates do not yet support nested if/else statements. Eg: <if=something> <div class="something">Show something</div> <if=something else> <div class="somethingelse">Show something else</div> </if> </if> It would be nice to see this in IPB 2.2 or 3.0

Frontbase
by Guest Cayoc- 2 replies
- 1.9k views
Now that the full license for Fronbase is now free with all the goodies; Clustering & LookSee. I was just wondering if you had any plans to include Frontbase in your list of supported DBs. From their site it looks like their PHP extension is pretty much the same as mysql. Is this something we could consider doing ourselves? I assume this kind of thing is covered in ipsbeyond but not beeing a client yet I have no access... strange

More Control over individual member`s
by Guest IM-HO-TEP- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
Not sure if this has been mentioned but a lot of my members set a forum to be watched and then either change their e-mail or are never seen again! This results in me receiving miriads of returned e-mails bah! I would like an admin option to control members individual settings!

Split Topics
by Guest Michael P- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
A feature to split a topic from post X would be good, I've found it annoying having to tick lots of boxes to split topics, when there are 20 posts in a row all off topic. It would also mean on these forums, you could remove offtopic discussion from valid topics easier and lock those and not genuine topics :)

Cache "Active Users"
by Guest Luke- 7 replies
- 2.9k views
One of the biggest things I've noticed about very popular forums is that they turn off the active users list in topics and posts. Where this feature might be very handy and imformative, it can cause load when you dont want it. On the other hand, not having the feature at all can be a little anoying because you dont know if anyone even cares about your topic unless you used the "Last Click" option on the board index (which, with a lot of users can be anoying to say the least). So the idea is to cache these results. You may ask, what purpose could that possibly serve? Well lets put this into more perspective. Let's say you had 1000 users on your forum constantly (like neo…
