I was thinking that you could maybe [create, invent, ect.] a personal comments section that would probably appear on the profile-or something like that-for quick comments to the member that wouldn't essentially need to be given in a PM. How does that sound? P.S.-My first post. :D ~Tahima~

Optimizing IPB 2.1.6

Hy :charles: Friend of mine ask me to help him to optimize is Ipb 2.1.6.... I rewritted the skin for friendly URL, nofollow , xhtml validation....etc..... Things are going ok , more visits on the site, spiders everywhere, and he just get PR 2,.....so it is not too bad.. But few things i can't deal with.....I've done a test : -All of your webpages have the same title. Google and other search engines will not be able to easily determine the content within your different pages, and will mark you down accordingly. -Your website does not contain any explicit headings. Confirm before deleting PM's

I'd like to see some kind of conformation screen before a PM gets deleted. My members are always complaining about this and I understand them, since it's quite easy to accidently hit 'delete' when all you really wanted was to 'move'. If not a PM confimation screen, then I think a Trash Can would be good. Then you would at least be given a chance to move your PM out of the trash if you accidently deleted it. Pleeeeease add any of the above. It really is needed...

Confusion between GMT and UTC

Hi everybody. First of all i'm french, so forgive about my bad english :whistle: So, this is the issue : when IPB refers to a time-zone (display, select or whatever), it uses the GMT (greenwhich mean time) system. For example, it displays "GMT+1". The Greenwhich mean time system is not used anymore actually. The official time worldwide is UTC (which means coordinated universal time). Whithout doing some physics, you have to know that GMT time was measured by the astronomers, taking for reference system the earth revolving around the sun, whereas UTC is taking for reference system a bunch of atomic clocks, which are far more precise than astronomic measurements. When something wrong happens (for example sql server crashes, or table corupts, or just some bug in ipb), IPB shows sql error message saying: there was error in sql query, etc. is it possible to chage this, so it will send email to admin, or (better option) that it will write to special, predefined file. same about IPB WARNINGs

ACP Logging

As you probably know, not every action in the ACP is logged. Well, recently my forums were compromised, and the attacker decided to change around a few things in the ACP, almost all of these actions went unlogged. For example, he edited skin templates, edited some settings, etc. Most of these actions went unlogged. I would like to see improved ACP logging in future versions of IPB.

Multiple Attachments

It would be nice if you could add multiple attachments at once, as in then you go to attach a file it allowed you to select X files to attach at once, that way you wouldn't have to do one at a time. Or possible allowing a compressed file to be uploaded then the system can unzip it/extract the images, then thumbnail them. If you cant tell I have a need for a way for people to upload a bunch of images at once.

I know this can't be confirmed for sure but I've seen it on similar boards. Where people have to fill in some sort of birthdate upon registration and comfirm they're over a certain age. I'd really like to see this implemented as I've been getting quite a few younger users recently.

Order Virtual Directories By Name (UCP)

Currently when you create new folders for your PM's it isn't ordered at all. It lists them as they were created. Could you possibly fix this so it is ordered by the first letter of the folder? It would be more convenient especially for people that have a lot of folders like me instead of looking through and recreating the same one cause the existing folder was hard to see. So can you guys consider this?

easy unsubscribe

basically the unsubscribe option (which requires you to login into your forum account then go to your control panel and uncheck a check) is not very user friendly, especially because he's already annoyed to have received the email in the first place. A link which unsubscribes a user directly without all the hassle would be a good option. :thumbsup: (deja vu :P, but at least the topic is in the right section now...)

Some users of mine ask me some interesting features in my forum. For example Now a topic has a closing automatic date, could be closed also when it reach "x" pages in automatic? Now anti-flood is set global for each one, could be a good ideas to set antiflood-per-single-user o per single topic (or subforum)? Thanks!

So this is one thing that drives me crazy, no SSL support! Anyway, I know we can only run one "forum", what if I copy the directory and change my URL to https://forums.wolfram-studios.com Does that still count as one forum right? THEN I'd have SSL support (though I'd have to copy all updates to it, not a problem)

Well here's some offers :) I don't know, it's already done or not, so jsut posting :) 1 - I think you should put refferals ability, there members can promote forum and get points for that, for example, member using link http://www.domainname.com/index.php?act=Re...00&referer=7103 or something... what to do with points, forum owners will decide by theyr-selves 2 - As i saw at pm's module or something in video, there isn't feature to delete or reply to that pm. Shared Ban Filters and Blacklists

I'm currently running and maintaining three installations of IPB (two on one server and a third on another). New user registration for the sole purpose of posting spam is getting completely out of control. I'm now spending about an hour everyday creating new ban filters, because each addition has to be done three times using three different admin interfaces. Having said that, I would love to see a way to manage a single ban filter list that could be shared amongst all of my IPB installations. Adding this feature could also allow multiple IPB owners to work together to combat spam on their sites. Taking it a step even further, I think a lot of IPB owners could benefit fr…

Registration/login redirect settings

I want to be able to say that the registration page or login page use the skin of the forum the user was currently in, and furthermore be re-directed BACK to that forum as opposed to the root of the forums. I think this would be an excellent feature :D

PM display as threads

I'd like to see PMs display as threads, with replies just as they are in topics rather than quote after quote. It would be easy to tell them apart from a normal thread as the left side menu would still remain on screen. That would be an excellent addition. All in all it might even save a little space in the DB as only one copy would need to be retained that both members could view.
