I can certainly understand that and believe me when I say you're not the first to have license transfer issues and in spite of our warnings, probably won't be the last. Again, I'm sorry we can't be of more assistance and do hope you understand our position.

alright, ill give up on it, filed a dispute on paypal, hopefully ill get my money back at least the money i paid for the license, just slightly frustrating when something like this happens. :(

Our official position on this has never changed: We do not recommend purchasing a license from a third party nor do we provide any support for such a transaction as we have no way of knowing what transpires outside of our systems. It's not uncommon for someone to sell a license, then try to reclaim it and as we cannot possibly verify every transaction that occurs between private parties, our policy is to deal only with the person listed on the account. If the owner chooses to change those details, that is entirely between them and the new owner.

If you feel that you are the rightful holder of the license, I'm afraid the only thing we can suggest is to pursue the matter through legal channels. We will naturally abide by any order issued by a US court of law.

This is the way I see it:

You should have known full well you were going to piss a lot of people off by telling them that lifetime/perp license holders could not use this service, and that they could one-way convert their licenses to a standard license to use this service. Especially given the nature of the service: A way to stop spam, something that should be a stock feature available to everyone. I'm sure you talked about it for a while, but I can't believe it didn't cross someone's mind before posting the announcement. If you have retracted the statement and are working on it further, an ajustment to the annoucement needs to be made.

As I've said before, a license holder is a license holder. You can't discriminate one from the other, regardless of what the arrangement was. If you are extending the support fee for this, you should do it for the other licenses as well, regardless of who pays what. I also know that by giving it to the standard license holders, you are not increasing your revenue by any margin to cover the costs of the server required for this service. This leads me to believe that it is not about cost, but a way to get people to convert their licenses. If you still wish to honor them, honor them.

If this is about cost, charge for it. And if you do, charge everyone, not just perp and lifetime license holders. How ever you want to do it, I'm sure no one would complain. $10 per year provides an access key for every form license, $5 per year per access key, etc... what ever it is, I'm sure no one would mind. But if you want to have everyone use it, it has to be dirt cheap. You want everyone to use it, but excluding lifetime/perp license holders does not do that. It just pisses them off, and they refuse to use the service.

Be fair accross the board. That's all I ask.

Ummm.... not sure what you mean "decent". If you don't like the look/feel then by all means... design one you think is better or grab one from the various resource sites.

We never give 'fake' release dates, when we do give dates, they are based on the best information we have available at the time. I would also say that we are not far off from the June estimated release date.

You'll be better off to contact sales@invisionpower.com they will be able to tell you exactly what can be converted, as far as I know, SMF 1.1 can be converted.
