I need to hide this block on Topic Posting page as it is specific to topic-view page only. How do I hide it on Topic Posting page without having to edit templates?

You might have to Edit the templates.

I actually Edit my own [child] templates, and keep a written record of my changes.

The exact same blocks from topic list page would appear on start-a-topic form page.

Maybe you created a custom page for topic listing?

No, I see what you are saying now.

For me, the none of the sidebar blocks from the topic-list page will show on the start-a-topic form page. However, any blocks on in the header and footer of the main page do carry over to the start-a-topic page, which is probably what you are referring to.

Could you please provide an example user who cannot and we can take a look?

Check over their group ACP restriction if they have this 4 checked on :

Since they are considered as being "admins", they need the permission to edit admin accounts for the profile picture + other informations.

@igniteyourfeelings - Thank you for this. This pointed me in the right direction.

Ironically, the account I use regularly is has this Sub-Admin membergroup as my Primary Group and regular Administrator as my Secondary Group. Since my account was attached to the Sub-Admin membergroup, it was not allowing me to make any Edits to this membergroup. I had to remove myself from the group in order to get the option to Edit that groups AdminCP privileges.

I'm used to Secondary groups permissions overriding the Primary groups restrictions. I just learned that when is comes to AdminCP permissions and restrictions, it works in reverse.

  4. I'm just posting to follow this topic, because I don't think there is a way, but sometimes I am surprised by an answer.

But as far as I know, you don't have that kind of granular control with your blocks. If you add a block to your Pages, it shows up on ALL those pages. If you add a block to Gallery or Downloads, it shows on ALL subsequent links under those apps. Likewise, any block on a topic shows on all topics, in one forum shows on all forums, etc.

But, I am eager to hear I am wrong, so I will wait in anticipation 🙂

There is no exception to have just guest-posts moderated for a specific database.

Okay, that's what I thought. This is something that works in Forums but not throughout the entire suite. But when I read this topic's title I though maybe I'm missing something.

10 years with Invision and I still uncover something I didn't know once in awhile 🙂

Isn't the url always added automatically to the forum post? It is for my site

Yes. But the entire article is cross-posted in the forum. I would like to see that snipped or summarized to avoid the double-posting issue.

The rest of your post as well as Nathan's confuses me a bit. You sound like you're talking about adding custom fields to the Pages article. Nathan mentions adding code somewhere (in CKEditor through HTML editing?). I'm not following yet, but I'll reread after another cup of caffeine, lol.

This reminds me of another annoying issue while you are poking around in that area - this is what someone sees if content moderation is enabled on an account after they have replied to a topic:

Could contain: White Board, Page, Text

If the content must be approved before the content can be edited then an edit link shouldn't be there, and I shouldn't be able to edit (which I can if I click the link)

    I disagree.

I have users under content moderation who will submit a post, and then want to go in and correct spelling errors or add an extra thought while their 15 minute edit window is still open. When the 15 minute edit window has closed, then that Edit link should disappear.

Will add it to the bug report. Thank you

Please reconsider. I don't see this as a bug, but as the way it should work and should continue working.

Have the user go back and edit that post - moderator approval will incorrectly not be required

If you use Member Groups to put members in content moderation, then you should also be able to edit that groups time limit for editing posts. For example, my moderated users as well as my unmoderated users have a 10 minute window to edit whatever they want. But when times up, their post is mine, lol 😄

One thing that really caught my eyes here is how profile' side blocks are handled in Mobile view. I think IPS just nailed it.

Although, I always edit my templates so that the feed is on the left and the sidebar block are on the right. This is because if you clicked an email notification for a Status update, it took you to the profile, but on mobile view you had to scroll past all the blocks to get to the feed (I have a lot of blocks due to a lot of profile customizations). By flipping them, the Status update is at the top of the page.

V5 gets rid of Status Updates though, so this may be a non-issue unless a super cool dev brings the feature back to life.
