Maxxius Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Hey guys, are there any plans to make this area to be draggable while holding left click? So inconvenient to click on small arrows or that narrow scrollbar. SoloInter, Omri Amos, EliasM and 1 other 4
Management Matt Posted October 23 Management Posted October 23 Interestingly enough, if you have a mouse that supports it, swiping left to right does move the carousel across.
Maxxius Posted October 24 Author Posted October 24 I have a Razer mouse where you can tilt the scroll wheel left / right but it does nothing. Any how that's not the point. Would you consider adding so that everyone can drag it which every direction we want while holding a left click on it? That would make browsing these carousels so much faster and convenient.

I think you have read Matts comment as "No" rather than him simply letting you know that he's found you can do that with the mouse. This isnt to dismiss your thoughts Maxxius 1
Management Matt Posted October 24 Management Posted October 24 It's something we can being, yeah. Obviously we want 5.0.0 out asap but we will do a massive feedback round and look at ideas like this. I've never noticed because I have an Apple mouse and the swipe gesture works but I accept your point. Maxxius and SoloInter 1 1
Ehren Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Hi Maxxius, I believe horizontal scrolling can be done with mouse wheels by holding the Shift key and scrolling, which might be helpful in this instance. Clicking and dragging to navigate through content isn't really a web standard, but rather a hacky attempt at mimicking touch events using a mouse. It also breaks native events that users might expect (such as clicking/dragging to select a line of text). Maybe give the Shift approach a try to see if that improves your workflow. If not, increasing the size of the scrollbar is also an option. We don't have any immediate plans to adjust the functionality of carousels leading up to 5.0.0, but see how those solutions go and we can always reevaluate in the future if necessary 🙂 Matt Finger and Matt 2
Maxxius Posted October 25 Author Posted October 25 First of all its the first time I hear of this horizontal scrolling with shift key after using a computer for 23+ years 😄 And its a very poor slow and jittery solution at that. I will never use it. And you can't expect a regular user to know that trick. 8 hours ago, Ehren said: It also breaks native events that users might expect (such as clicking/dragging to select a line of text). I agree buuuuut you already cannot select anything anyway. Check out the short video. I was unable to select any text. https://i.imgur.com/t3Fyjm0.mp4 - https://imgur.com/t3Fyjm0 And that's what I'm talking about is right there - https://wpcarousel.io/wp-carousel-free-demo/ SoloInter 1

It would be really cool to be able to do the same thing as in the example of @Maxxius Maxxius 1
Maxxius Posted October 25 Author Posted October 25 I think is a matter of time. its just good UX plain and simple. 🙂
