I cannot move posts anymore to my "Archives" subcategory. For instance, if I wanted to move a post from how to remove a Japanese rifle barrel into, "Archives", subcategory, "Barrels", it, along with everything under "Archives" is grayed out. In Admin CP I cannot find a way to fix this. Thanks.

Are you able to provide a screenshot or link to what you're seeing? We can then advise accordingly. Are the topics themselves already archived by the software?

I manually move random topics to the archival forums- nothing is automated. In this picture, I'm trying to move this subject to one of the Archival forums. They are grayed out. Thanks.

You do not have permission to post in those topics. Your groups needs permission to move the topic there. 

I'm the site owner. What am I doing wrong?

Double-check the forum permissions for the group your account is in. Does it have permission to post in the archive forums?

I'm not sure where to look? I looked at Admin CP, forum category, and went to the edit page. I'm not seeing anything helpful there.

You can use the Group permissions page to check and edit everything easily:
