Claudia999 Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 My users are often confused because they can't write in our (public) clubs. The problem in most cases is that they would have to become a member of the club first. Unfortunately, this is not made so clear. One solution would be to change the club to "open". But then there is not the possibility for users to join. Or am I overlooking a setting that a group is public AND you can join as a member? Or for public clubs that all users can write independent of membership in club?
Management Charles Posted October 15, 2021 Management Posted October 15, 2021 You have it right. Open means no membership needed. Public means anyone can read but you have to join to become a member. Are you saying your members are missing out on the have to join part?Â
Claudia999 Posted October 16, 2021 Author Posted October 16, 2021 Yes. Something like "You have to join in this club..." Or... Why there is'nt the text field for answer as in "normal" forums for guests but with the notice "You have to join..." and a button "Join"?
Marc Posted October 16, 2021 Posted October 16, 2021 While there isnt any text there, you do indeed have a join button in the top right of the club on every page that you visit. You can add a custom text field if needed which would show on the top of the club overview stating you have to join to participate. This may resolve the confusion if needed. Â
Solution Ryan Ashbrook Posted October 16, 2021 Solution Posted October 16, 2021 Alternatively, you can create a page that is only visible to people that are not a part of the club, and explain the purpose of the club and that they can read but cannot participate until they join. Then, you can re-order the menu to place the page first, which will then load that page automatically as soon as users click into the club.

Sure, but maybe is such a disclaimer as in normal forums but with "to answer here you have to join" a good idea in general?
