Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted July 7, 20177 yr Hi, just wondering what methods people are using for the registration process, and how well the IPS anti spam works? Currently on my vbulletin board I use email verification and manual approval. This causes 2 problems, firstly people are impatient and expect immediate access to everything these days, i usually don't get round to approving members till late in the day. Secondly, probably only around 50% of people seem to even receive the email. I'd like to do away with email verification but don't want to be flooded with spam bots. Interested to hear everyones settings and their results. Thanks
July 12, 20177 yr Community Expert I use email validation and approval of the first post (member group setting). So people can post instantly after email approval, but their posts wont show until my manual approval and so spamming becomes pointless. Works 99,99% of the time.

I only accept users with a valid email address as a general principle. 6 minutes ago, Steve Bullman said: I dont see the option for moderating first post, can you be more specific where I can find this please?
