Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Subseven Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 So I did a ticket because I got a call from one my Admins saying the site (Tennesseeanglers.com) was down and showing as a threat. Members are frustrated. So it seemed I needed to go SSL. I did that and have it set up now. But it's still not working right and showing as a threat. I did a ticket (#975167) and they said I need to upgrade. Wonderful. I have a nice theme an some great modifications. The images are messed up. Is there anybody here with a good rep that can help me out? If so, send me a PM and a number. In the meantime, I'm going to try to get this going. Thanks.
bearback Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 can you not get ipb support to upgrade you ?

They were helping but I haven't heard back from since yesterday. They wanted me to get an update path from DevFuse (they haven't got back to me) for the garage if they have one. I may lose the garage...the members are going to be pissed. And for subscriptions, I'd have to subscribe to Commerce for $30 a month. That sucks because I don't many. It's a smaller forum. In the meantime, the site is showing as a risk and the members are pissed. I haven't done anything to the admin side in months. Then this happens. Grrrrrr. Tennesseeanglers.com.

Whenever we put huge modifications on our boards, it always leads to disappointment down the road. When I went from 2.x to 3.x my community lost the Arcade System, Casino System and the Battle Systems we had in place. FYI I went to your website and not only did Google throw a hissy fit, but once I got past that warning BitDefender also threw up a block from visiting.

You have to try a bunch of times and ignore the warnings. Then you can get in. It was running perfect before this just happened. I haven't made changes. Just out of the blue...BANG. Supposedly google and more are now flagging sites that take payment (paypal gateway for subscriptions in my case) don't have a SSL certificate. This is TOTAL BS. So for the new IPB to have subscriptions...you have to pay $30/month for commerce. I can see a lot of people jumping ship. Again.

The v4 Collections application from DevFuse has an upgrade path and converter from V3 Garage app. I just implemented Collections on my site and did a custom import (I didn't have the Garage app -- I've a new "convert") and successfully imported about 1200 records with photos, etc. Meanwhile it is not quite fair to "blame IPS" for whatever Google, Bing or other services implement... all they can do is try to stay abreast, and provide timely provisions/reactions.

I should not have to pay for Collections. I already owned the garage. Mike at DevFuse has not got back to me yet.

Subseven Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 Thanks. I just sent Mike a message here. I know he's the man and can help me. IPB had me get rid of all of my hooks and addons too. I didn't want to lose the garage which I guess is just called collections now...so I kept that one there. IPB told me to get the upgrade path for that from Mike.

Your site is blacklisted (many times actually) because of potentially malicious JavaScript. And you probably have that, because you stayed on the this outdated version and with that invited hackers to inject code through known security holes, which would have been closed through the updates. So yeah, better do that 4.1 upgrade and with that delete all php files of the current installation.

I never did the upgrade because the members hate change. Well now...it's unavoidable. I might not even do a custom skin. If I could have a regular IPB one redone to orange and white, I'd think about that. I'm so sick of edits.
opentype Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 1 hour ago, Subseven said: So I didn't need to pay Godaddy $70 for the SSL? Like I said: it doesn’t hurt. Browsers are now starting to show http sites with login forms as insecure and that will be another complain from your users. So going SSL at some point is almost unavoidable.
Subseven Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 Thanks man. I'll keep it then. Some companies were soooo much cheaper for SSL though. I just went GoDaddy to keep it all on the same deal with my hosting.
