Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Boomer12 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Hello, I've just bought IP.S (Board + Pages) and I'd like to import my data from Burning Board 4.1. So I installed the Converter in my IP.S 4.1 and tried to import and convert my data, but there is no option for Burning Board. In this thread, @Charlie said that it is possible to move and they created an importer. Does someone know where to find it? Cheers, jacboy
Ahmad E. Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 According to the description here: It is not supported, either it is an outdated description or @Charlie might've confused the forum softwares?
Boomer12 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Wow, this comunity is really fast, thanks for your fats reply! I read on the Migrations page and found this: I will create a support request in the client area, maybe the staff can help.
RevengeFNF Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I think the converter only works for IPB 3.4. I think you could convert it to IPB 3.4, then update to IPS 4.1 and then converge both 4.1.
Boomer12 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Okay, that sounds awesome. I will take a look of that.
Boomer12 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 @Mark said, that the only way is IP 3.4 --> Import --> Upgrade to IP 3.4
TheSonic Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Yes, that's currently the most common way for migrations... WBB -> IPB3.4 -> IPS4.1. That said, this shouldn't be a big deal. If you need help or want to write in german, feel free and drop me a note.
Boomer12 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Import & Convert was successfull, but I can't upgrade it...will take a closer look into that in the evening.

Boomer12 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 @TheSonic told me that I need to set permission for the folders and files, otherwise I will get an 500 error in many cases. I will try this ou in the night or tomorrow, watching Netflix (The Mentalist :D) now

To clarify my early confirmation that we support WBB 4.1.x to IP.Board 3.4.9. We just updated our 3.x converters to handle the db structure changes in WBB 4.1 in September. @jacboyIf adjusting the permissions doesn't work, support will be happy to get the upgrade straightened out for you. But, do enjoy the Mentalist!

Actually, I just installed IP.S (need to fight vs. my brain for ignoring to say IP.B :D) 4.1 and made some changes and settings, so I don't want to re-install it, if I don't need it. When I understood correctly, there is no importer from 3.4 --> 4.1 - I need to make a full upgrade?
Charlie Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 If you installed IPS 4.1 you can export your theme if you spent some time customizing your look and feel. You will need to install 3.4.9 from the client area and convert your WBB data. I have a guide available for 3.4.9 conversions: You can upgrade back to 4.1 after you are happy with the conversion process. If you exported your theme you can import it after the upgrade. If you have already gone through some or all of these steps (I'm not sure if you already did your conversion) you can disregard this advice, and for more in depth assistance support is always available.
Boomer12 Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 I already made the conversiom and the 3.4 Installation is in my /old directory, so I don't need to make a new report, just retry the upgrade.
